By combining LoRaWAN connectivity with smart tank level and flow monitoring, Water to Grow helped a Waikato dairy farmer identify an unexpected water leak before it became a costly problem —potentially saving around 20,000 litres of water.

Congrats to the Water to Grow team & delivery partners on another successful deployment.

With water costing $2.20 per cubic metre and daily usage averaging around 30,000 litres, Waikato dairy farmer Ryan Cannell knows that even small leaks can become expensive. That's why he adopted Water to Grow's smart water management solution - giving him greater visibility of his water system and h...

IoT projects succeed or fail based on how well technical design, cost, and real-world operations align — not just how good the concept looks on paper. In this new blog by Michael, he explores why off-the-shelf assumptions, early over-specification, and traditional IT thinking often lead to expensive missteps, and why practical experimentation with scaling is essential for building effective IoT systems.

This Water to Grow installation in Hurunui, New Zealand shows how LoRaWAN-enabled smart irrigation control can coordinate large-scale irrigation networks in challenging environmental conditions.

Using long-range, low-power connectivity, the Water to Grow irrigation control system is a strong example of how the LoRaWAN ecosystem continues to support scalable IoT & Agritech solutions in the real world.

Water to Grow is actively improving irrigation technology with the new launch of their Extended Sprinkler Valve Controller and Master Valve Controller.

We are proud to power these solutions and help farmers control large-scale and complex irrigation systems.

Alongside the new and improved Master Valve Controller, we are introducing the Extended Sprinkler Valve Controller (SVCx) - designed for irrigation systems that require longer operating periods or continuous scheduling.

Many irrigation systems need valves to operate for extended periods beyond what traditional sprinkler controllers typically support. SVCx allows irrigation valves to run as scheduled irrigation zones within irrigation programmes, making it easier to integrate assets such as centre pivots, laterals, and other long-duration irrigation infrastructure into a single control platform.

We've released an important enhancement to Water to Grow's irrigation control platform. Our new Master Valve Controller allows a master valve to operate automatically in sync with both scheduled and continuous/rolling irrigation programmes.

We know maintaining stable pressure across irrigation systems can be challenging. Pressure spikes can lead to pump cycling, air ingress, equipment wear, and inconsistent irrigation performance.

Our improved Master Valve functionality includes configurable timing offsets to ensure water always has somewhere to flow when valves operate - helping reduce pressure spikes and improving overall system stability.
