A 12V 7Ah battery can often last several years, but its lifespan depends on how much work it has to do.

Here are some common reasons it may fail sooner:

• Frequent power cuts – Every outage makes the battery take over and use its stored power.

• Long power outages – The longer the power is off, the more the battery gets drained.

• Too many devices – Cameras, alarm accessories, keypads, door locks and other equipment can increase the power being used.

• Electric locks and sirens – These can use much more power when operating, putting extra demand on the battery.

• Heat – Batteries don’t like hot environments. A battery sitting inside a hot security cabinet can age much faster.

• Charging problems – If the alarm or access control panel isn’t charging the battery properly, even a new battery can become weak.

• Poor battery condition – Battery quality, storage time and how it was treated before installation can also affect its lifespan.

• Repeated deep draining – Batteries don’t like being completely drained over and over again.

💡 The important part: Don’t assume the battery itself is the problem.

If a battery only lasts a few months or a year, check how much power the system is using, how often the power goes out, whether the charger is working properly, and where the battery is installed.

Think of it like a water tank:

Two houses can have the same size tank, but the house using more water will empty it much faster.

🔧 So before replacing your battery again, find out WHY it failed early. You might solve the real problem instead of repeatedly replacing the battery.

📡 What is this box actually doing?

This is Alarm Communicator. The communication link between the alarm panel and the monitoring centre.

🔹 Alarm connection: Interfaces with compatible alarm panels allowing alarm events to be transmitted to the monitoring centre.

🔹 4G connectivity: It has a cellular 4G communication, providing a connection even when the site’s normal internet connection isn’t available.

🔹 IP/Ethernet connection: The module can also connect through the site’s WAN/Ethernet network, with automatic failover to cellular connectivity when required.

🔹 Wi-Fi connectivity: other models support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, giving the system another communication option and allowing compatible network devices to connect.

🔹 Monitoring centre: When the alarm is triggered, the communicator sends the alarm event through the available communication path so the monitoring centre can receive and respond to the event.

Having an alarm system doesn’t necessarily mean you’re connected to a monitoring centre. The communication path is what makes that connection possible.

This security camera looks more like a giant egg. 🥚😂

This camera is installed in the ceiling of a warehouse, so it is hard to know whether surveillance is monitoring the premises.
