A small mixed media Sculpture called 'Lament of Adam' from this months exhibition at The Art Post. The theme for this exhibition is called 'Dance' and is the interpretation of the 6 participating artists. More works will be added over the next two months.

"Before the Storm" What may appear to be negative in one persons eyes, can be a thing of beauty in another's. 'Before the Storm' tries to show how politics and the past almost pales into insignificance by looking at the bigger picture of what nature and life has to offer. I'd like to dedicate this painting to my father Stephen Larry Sampson (1950 - 2011), who sadly died in June 2011.

Has just joined The Art Post...

For almost 20 years, apart from occasional attempts to start a new business in it, the old post office in Parau has stood empty.

At one time or another it's been a craft shop and a veterinary clinic, but the businesses have not survived for very long.

A group of 9 artists from Huia, Laingholm and Titirangi, have got out the paint brushes and fixed it up, turning it into an open studio where people can watch artists at work.

Outside, a giant wooden envelope hangs from the roof, welcoming visitors to the Art Post, in tribute to the post office that closed in the 1980s.

The Art Post, at 624 Huia Rd, Parau, is open every weekend from 10am to 4pm and late night Thursdays from 2 - 9pm.

Directions are from the Titirangi roundabout in Titirangi village, turn left down Huia Rd and drive for about 10 minutes. For more information email: [email protected]
