All of us at HMI Technologies & Ohmio Automotion are delighted to welcome back our former New Zealand-based colleague David Verma as Director, Queensland at HMI Technologies Australia.

David brings more than 25 years of international leadership experience delivering intelligent transport systems (ITS), smart mobility, and complex technology programs across Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East, and Asia at scale.

Throughout his career, David has led the delivery of major transport and smart infrastructure initiatives and operations, working with governments and private industry to implement innovative solutions that dynamically improve safety, operational performance, and the movement of people and goods. With a background in the installation and commissioning of ITS infrastructure, his wider expertise spans intelligent transport systems, decision support systems, connected and autonomous mobility, asset management, digital infrastructure, strategic program leadership and multimodal transport advisory services.

As Director for Queensland, David will lead HMI Technologies’ continued growth across the state, strengthening relationships with our clients and partners while delivering innovative transport technology solutions designed to shape safer, smarter, and more connected communities.

Hanney is a senior commercial leader with more than 32 years of international experience driving business growth, strategic partnerships, and commercial transformation across the supply chain, logistics, transportation, and technology sectors.
Throughout his career, Hanney has held senior leadership positions spanning business development, commercial management, sales leadership, and executive management. He has successfully led growth initiatives, market expansion strategies, and high-performing teams across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania, building a reputation for delivering sustainable commercial outcomes and long-term customer value. His extensive international experience has provided him with a unique global perspective and deep expertise in navigating diverse markets, developing cross-border partnerships, and identifying opportunities for innovation and growth.

In his role at Ohmio & HMI, Hanney will be responsible for driving business growth, strengthening strategic relationships, and supporting the adoption of intelligent transport, smart infrastructure, and autonomous mobility solutions. His appointment reflects both his strong commercial background and his passion for technologies that are transforming the way people and goods move through increasingly connected environments.
