What a week in Bali!

There’s something truly valuable about connecting in person with customers, colleagues and friends from across the maritime industry — and just as importantly, meeting new people who bring fresh perspectives, ideas and opportunities to the conversation.

The 27th IMPA Congress brought together more than 300 pilots and maritime professionals from around the world, all with a shared goal: continuing to make pilotage safer, smarter and more innovative.

For us at Navicom Dynamics, it was also the perfect place and moment to introduce ChannelPilot X (CPX) to the pilotage community.

The response was incredible. Seeing the excitement around CPX and hearing pilots tell us that we had listened to what they actually need was probably one of the most rewarding parts of the week. After all the work behind the scenes, there couldn’t have been a better way to launch it. 🙌

A huge thank you to IMPA and INAMPA for bringing the global pilotage community together and organising such a fantastic event.

And finally, a special mention to our hosts in Indonesia. The warmth and hospitality we experienced throughout the week were exceptional — always a smile and always someone ready to help with whatever was needed.

We left Bali with great memories, new connections, plenty of ideas and lots of exciting conversations to continue.

Until next time!

Day 4 at IMPA Congress 2026

Today, John Barker, Senior Pilot at Port of Auckland, took the stage to share the story of the Pacific Pilotage Training Group (PPTG) and the incredible work they are doing across the Pacific Islands.

PPTG is a group of six pilots from Australia and New Zealand who volunteer their time and expertise to support pilots working in some of the most remote and resource-constrained maritime environments in the Pacific.

Through hands-on training, knowledge sharing and access to tools and technology such as Portable Pilot Units (PPUs), the group helps local pilots build their skills and confidence, supporting safer and more effective pilotage across the region.

What makes this initiative so special is the people behind it: pilots supporting pilots, sharing their experience and giving their own time to make a genuine difference in communities where access to training, resources and modern navigation technology can be limited.

A fantastic presentation from John and a great reminder of how sharing knowledge and technology can have a very real impact. 👏

We’re proud to support the work of PPTG and the pilots they work alongside across the Pacific.

Introducing ChannelPilot X 🚀

Yesterday at the 27th IMPA Congress in Bali, we finally revealed what our team has been working on behind the scenes for months.

And what a way to launch it!

We had a fantastic crowd join us at the Navicom Dynamics stand for the reveal, and the response from pilots was incredible.

ONE UNIT. EVERY TRANSIT.

ChannelPilot X is our next-generation PPU, designed to adapt to different pilotage scenarios through three operating modes — from ship-connected navigation to fully independent position, heading and ROT.

AUTONOMOUS. SUPPORTED. DEPENDENT.

One compact, lightweight PPU giving pilots the flexibility to choose the level of independence they need for every transit.

We’re incredibly excited to finally share CPX with the pilotage community.

And this is just the beginning. More on ChannelPilot X coming soon.

Welcome to the next generation of pilotage.

🚢 New Case Study: NPUT in the Panama Canal

How do you improve situational awareness for tug operators manoeuvring some of the world’s largest vessels through one of the busiest waterways?

Working closely with the Panama Canal Authority (ACP), Navicom Dynamics developed NPUT — a purpose-built navigation solution for tug operations, with 50 units now deployed across the ACP tug fleet.

A great example of what can be achieved when technology is developed around real operational needs.

What a great week in Tonga!

It was a pleasure to be part of the Pacific Pilots Training Group’s 3rd Annual Conference & Workshop, bringing together pilots from Tonga, Samoa, Fiji, the Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Tuvalu, American Samoa, and Wallis and Futuna.

We’re proud to support an initiative that helps bring new technology, knowledge and practical experience to pilots across the Pacific, contributing to safer and more precise pilotage throughout the region.

A special thank you to our own David Hedgley FNI for giving his time and sharing his knowledge and experience with the Pacific pilot community.

Great conversations, great people and a fantastic week of learning and collaboration.
