That’s the reality for 1 in 5 New Zealand households this winter.
New coverage from RNZ highlights the cold reality from BRANZ’s latest
research:
👉 Nearly half of Kiwis say their homes aren’t warm enough
👉 Bedrooms average just 16.5°C overnight
👉 41% of bedrooms are never heated
That’s well below what’s needed for a healthy home: 👶 Kids should sleep in 20°C+
👨 Adults need at least 18°C
There is some good news:
🏠 Homes are warmer than they were 20 years ago
🔥 Heat pumps are now in over 60% of homes
But we’re still not warm enough at night and this has long term health implications.
