Microsoft is making Windows 11’s Start menu resizable after years of complaints, adds Small and Large options
Microsoft says it’s finally killing Windows 11’s one-size-fits-all Start menu, adding resize options after years of complaints.
Ever since Microsoft revamped Windows 11’s Start menu with a new categories layout and more customization options, I’ve been complaining about how huge it looks on my 14-inch laptop. In fact, it covers almost 70% of my screen space until I change the scaling settings to make everything smaller, including the Start menu.
In our tests, Windows Latest found that the new Start menu is almost twice the size of the old one. Of course, it doesn’t look that big on all PCs, since it depends on your monitor’s resolution and scaling settings. But I am sure some of you might have observed that the new Start menu is massive. icrosoft previously told us that it was aware of the fact that the new Start menu takes up more space, and it was looking into our feedback.

Right now, you can’t change the size of the Start menu. On Windows 10, Microsoft allowed you to resize the Start menu by pointing the cursor to the edge of the Start menu and dragging it to change its size. While that experience isn’t coming back, Microsoft is introducing two new layouts: small and large. Microsoft is testing new customization options for the Start menu
Microsoft will now let you hide different sections in the Start menu. That means you can choose to hide the Pinned section and only have your apps list or the Recommended feed.

You can also choose to hide the Recommended feed and have your pinned apps and all apps. In other words, you can have a Start menu with just your pinned apps, as you can turn off the Recommended and All sections. By default, the Start menu will show everything, but you can now choose to hide sections that you don’t want. And as for the Recommended feed, it’s getting more advanced.

Until now, when you turned off Recommended in the Start menu, it also removed the Recent section from the taskbar’s jump list and File Explorer’s Home tab. Now, Microsoft will let you turn off the Recommended feed in the Start menu without affecting other areas.

In fact, you can now disable the name and profile picture in Start, which is a nifty change for those who often share their screen. Microsoft confirmed that these features will roll out over the next several weeks, and there are plans to introduce more options soon.

For now, Microsoft is testing a movable and smaller taskbar in the preview builds, but that’s not all. It has plans to add up to 18 major changes to Windows 11 in the coming months, including fewer ads in OOBE, a WinUI-based Start menu, and more.

Microsoft releases Windows 10 KB5087544 extended security update

Microsoft has released the Windows 10 KB5087544 extended security update to fix the May 2026 Patch Tuesday vulnerabilities and resolve an issue with the new Remote Desktop warnings.

If you are running Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC or are enrolled in the ESU program, you can install this update like normal by going into Settings, clicking on Windows Update, and manually performing a 'Check for Updates.'

After installing this update, Windows 10 will be updated to build 19045.7291, and Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC 2021 will be updated to build 19044.7291.

What's new in Windows 10 KB5087544

Microsoft is no longer releasing new features for Windows 10, and the KB5087544 update primarily contains security updates and bug fixes. With today's May 2026 Patch Tuesday, Microsoft has fixed 120 vulnerabilities.

The complete list of fixes in KB5087544 is listed below:

[Remote Desktop security warnings (known issue)] Fixed: The Remote Desktop Connection security warning dialog might render incorrectly in multi-monitor configurations with different display scaling settings. This issue might occur after installing the Windows security update released on April 14, 2026 (KB5087544).

[Secure Boot]

This update enables dynamic status reporting for Secure Boot states in Windows Security App.

With this update, Windows quality updates include additional high confidence device targeting data, increasing coverage of devices eligible to automatically receive new Secure Boot certificates. Devices receive the new certificates only after demonstrating sufficient successful update signals, maintaining a controlled and phased rollout.

[Daylight Savings Time] Update for Arab Republic of Egypt to support the government DST change order in 2023.

As explained in the changelog above, this update fixes an issue that caused newly introduced Windows RDP security warnings to display incorrectly when opening Remote Desktop (.rdp) files.

Microsoft is also warning of a known issue that causes Windows to prompt users to enter their BitLocker recovery key after installing recent updates.

The problem only affects systems using a specific BitLocker Group Policy configuration that includes PCR7 in the TPM validation profile, along with several Secure Boot and boot manager conditions tied to the newer Windows UEFI CA 2023 certificate.

As a temporary workaround, Microsoft advises removing the affected Group Policy setting and then suspending and resuming BitLocker to regenerate the default PCR bindings while it works on a permanent fix.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 is a cloud-based suite of business applications that combines **Customer Relationship Management (CRM)** and **Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)** into a single platform. It uses AI, specifically **Microsoft Copilot**, to automate workflows and provide data-driven insights across various departments.
# # Core Ecosystem
The platform is modular, meaning you can start with one application and add others as your business grows. It is generally divided into two main categories:
# # # 1. Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
Focuses on managing customer interactions, sales, and marketing.
* **Sales:** Track leads, manage opportunities, and automate sales processes.
* **Customer Service:** Tools for support desks to manage cases across email, chat, and phone.
* **Marketing:** Personalized customer journeys and campaign automation.
* **Field Service:** Manages off-site technical teams, scheduling, and inventory for repairs.
# # # 2. Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)
Focuses on back-office operations like finance, supply chain, and HR.
* **Business Central:** A comprehensive ERP solution tailored for **Small and Medium-sized Businesses (SMBs)**.
* **Finance:** Advanced financial reporting, global accounting, and AI-driven cash flow forecasting.
* **Supply Chain Management:** Manages manufacturing, warehousing, and logistics.
* **Human Resources:** Handles employee records, benefits, and recruitment.
# # 2026 Key Innovations: The "Agentic" Era
In the latest 2026 release cycles, Microsoft has shifted toward **Autonomous Agents**. These are AI entities that can perform tasks with minimal human intervention:
* **Automated Purchasing:** Agents in Business Central can now handle routine purchase orders and vendor communication.
* **AI Picking:** Warehousing modules use AI to rebalance inventory and suggest the most efficient "picking" routes for workers.
* **Copilot Extensibility:** Users can now build their own custom AI agents to handle unique business rules within the platform.
# # Pricing & Licensing (2026 Estimates)
Pricing is typically per-user, per-month. There are two primary ways to license: **Base** licenses (the first app you buy) and **Attach** licenses (discounted rates for additional apps).
| License Type | Estimated Cost (Monthly) | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| **Business Central Essentials** | ~$70 - $80 | Core ERP: Finance, Sales, Inventory |
| **Business Central Premium** | ~$100 - $110 | Manufacturing & Service Management |
| **Sales Enterprise** | ~$105 | Large sales teams with advanced analytics |
| **Team Member** | ~$8 | Light users (Read-only / Time entry) |
| **Attach License** | ~$20 - $30 | Adding a second app (e.g., adding Field Service to Sales) |
# # Why Use It?
* **Microsoft Integration:** It works natively with Outlook, Teams, and Excel. You can update a sales quote directly from an email.
* **Scalability:** You only pay for the modules you need.
* **Data Intelligence:** Since all modules share a single database (Dataverse), reports in Power BI can show a "360-degree view" of a customer from their first marketing click to their last paid invoice.
How are you planning to use Dynamics 365—are you looking into it for a specific business role or for technical implementation?

The Windows 11 April 2026 update focuses on user experience refinements rather than major overhauls, bringing long-awaited quality-of-life improvements. Key changes include improved AI-powered Narrator functionality for image descriptions, a better Smart App Control toggle, and more intuitive Widgets settings. These updates prioritize stability and usability.
Key Quality-of-Life Improvements:
Smart App Control Management: Users can now toggle Smart App Control without needing to reinstall Windows, a long-requested, easier management option.

Accessible AI Narrator: The Narrator feature now supports AI-generated image descriptions on all Windows 11 devices, extending functionality previously limited to specific hardware, improving accessibility for all users.

Refined Widgets & Settings: The update offers more user control over Widgets and feed content, allowing for a quieter, less distracting experience. The setup process for new PCs is also more streamlined.

Reliable File Unblocking: The file "Unblock" toggle in the Properties window has been improved to act as a more reliable "one-time" exemption for files downloaded from the internet.

Enhanced Security Visibility: The Windows Security app now displays, for the first time, detailed information regarding the status of Secure Boot certificate updates.

Improved Remote Desktop: The Remote Desktop connection interface now includes a refined light/dark mode and supports text scaling up to 500% for better accessibility.

Microsoft Support
Microsoft 365 Integration: Subscribers can now directly upgrade their plans within the Settings app.
These updates, largely focusing on stability, aim to improve daily workflows

Microsoft’s new Patch Tuesday is a bumper update — 8 critical flaws topped off by an actively exploited zero-day vulnerability. All PC owners should update as soon as possible. If you’re running Windows 11, that’s simple. But if you’re among the hundreds of millions still on Windows 10, you need Microsoft’s extended support.
None of that is surprising or different to the monthly norm for PC owners. What is different, Microsoft says, is that “starting in April 2026, the Windows Security app displays additional information about the status of Secure Boot certificate updates on your device. You can find this under Device security > Secure Boot.”
This has never happened before. After 15 years, Microsoft is expiring Secure Boot certificates for the first time. These are based on an issue in 2011. Unless your PC is under two-years old, you’re still reliant on them now. They expire in June, by which time you need to have installed the 2023 Secure Boot certificates to stay safe.
This is timely now, because the update status check and the new certificates are integrated into this latest security update. If you are not eligible for this update, you don’t get the alert or the new certificates either. Enrol in the ESU now.
Microsoft has just updated its advice for Windows users to confirm all this: “Updated 2023 certificates are being delivered automatically through Windows Update,” and that “the Windows Security app now shows whether devices have received these updates, their current status, and whether any action is needed.”
So, what are you looking for? Essentially, “a green, yellow, or red badge attached to the Secure Boot icon indicates your current Secure Boot status. Text guidance is presented along with these badges to provide more detail.”
Be warned though “a green checkmark alone does not confirm your certificates are updated. Look also for the text: ‘Secure Boot is on and all required certificate updates have been applied. No further certificate changes are needed.’"

That’s the April update. And then from next month, Microsoft says, you’ll see more warnings if your certificates are approaching that June deadline. “Beginning in May 2026, additional improvements will become available, including notifications outside the app (such as system alerts) and additional in‑app guidance and controls to help you respond to Secure Boot warnings.” Put simply — no excuses.
