Apple Working on 'Thinner and Lighter' High-End MacBook Air With MagSafe, Could Launch in Second Half of 2021..

Apple is working on a "thinner and lighter" version of the MacBook Air that the company plans to release during the second half of this year at the earliest or in 2022, according to a new report by well-connected Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman.

It will include Apple's MagSafe charging technology and a next-generation version of the company's in-house Mac processors. Apple has discussed making the laptop smaller by shrinking the border around the screen, which will remain 13-inches. The current model weighs 2.8 pounds and is just over half an inch at its thickest point.

The company considered building a larger version of the ‌MacBook Air‌ with a 15-inch screen, but Apple isn't moving forward with this for the next generation, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing private matters. An Apple spokeswoman declined to comment.

According to the report, the new 13-inch ‌MacBook Air‌ model will also have a pair of USB 4 ports for connecting external devices. The current ‌MacBook Air‌, upgraded in November with Apple silicon, is expected to remain in the company's lineup as an entry-level offering.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously said that Apple will introduce a new ‌MacBook Air‌ at some point in 2022, suggesting there may not be a refresh in 2021. According to Kuo, the ‌MacBook Air‌ coming in 2022 will feature a mini-LED display, a prediction also echoed by DigiTimes.

With the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro models introduced in October 2020, Apple reinvented "‌MagSafe‌," the name once used for the breakaway magnetic charging cables designed for the MacBook. ‌MagSafe‌‌ was fully phased out of the Mac lineup, and the last machine with ‌‌MagSafe‌‌, the 2017 ‌MacBook Air‌, was discontinued by Apple in July 2019.

Kuo recently claimed the ‌MagSafe‌ charging connector design will be restored to Apple's MacBooks in future designs, though it was not quite clear what that meant since Apple has transitioned to USB-C. However, Gurman in a separate report clarified that the ‌‌MagSafe‌‌ port will be a standalone charging port used instead of USB-C, with the new port located next to the USB-C ports.

Dell’s 40-inch curved monitor is perfect for a home office command center..

Dell’s kicking off 2021 with a new addition to its monitor lineup that aims to hit a variety of sweet spots. The Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved WUHD monitor offers 39.7″ of screen real estate, with a 5120 x 2160 resolution that matches the pixel density of 4K resolution on a 32-inch conventional widescreen display. It comes equipped with Thunderbolt 3 for display and data connectivity, as well as 90W of charging for compatible computers, and a 10Gbps Ethernet connection for networking. In short, Dell’s latest (which is available beginning January 28) looks to be a true “one display to rule them all” contender, particularly for those searching for a way to optimize their home offices.

The basics

Dell’s UltraSharp 40 has a 60Hz, 39.7″ diagonal display in 21:9 aspect ratio with WUHD resolution (not quite true 5K, but exceptional for a curved monitor this size). It offers 100% sRGB and 98% P3 color reproduction, and comes with a stand that has height adjustability, tilt and swivel, and that features a hidden cable channel for cable management. Built-in speakers provide 9W each of sound reproduction so you don’t need to worry about adding externals.
In terms of wired connections, it offers Thunderbolt 3, RJ45 Ethernet and USB 10Gps ports (three on the rear, and one in front), as well as one USB-C port for easy access on the front. There’s also a 3.5mm audio line out (though it’s worth noting that this doesn’t work with headphones), and two HDMI ports plus one DisplayPort for more traditional display connectivity if you’re not going the Thunderbolt route. Finally, a standard security lock slot allows you to anchor the display in any shared environment.

The display itself is bright, clear and viewable at a wide range of angles, with a more matte finish that provides excellent viewing in a wide range of lighting conditions. A joystick control button provides easy navigation and operation of the built-in on-screen menu and integrated features, including picture-in-picture.
Design and features

First and foremost, the Dell UltraSharp 40 delivered excellent visual quality. Especially for a display this size, in a curved form factor, at this resolution, it’s going to be something that satisfies everyone, from telecommuters mostly handling meetings and spreadsheets, to photographers and video professionals looking for image quality that is highly color-accurate and provides crystal-clear detail.

The WUHD resolution means that you can run the display in a range of different configurations, depending on how much screen real estate you want or need. For instance, I’ve been using it at the 5160 x 2160 res, and it provides ample workspace for arranging multiple windows side-by-side, and tiled vertically. I typically use three displays at once in my day job (there’s a lot of tab and browser windows involved) and the Dell UltraSharp 40 makes it so that I can comfortably work with just a single monitor instead. It’ll work with Apple’s HiDPI modes on its modern Macs for clear and crisp visuals with larger on-screen elements, too, if you don’t need all that room.

Dell’s integrated stand is simple and effective, providing a range of maneuverability options that allow for significant travel in height adjustment. You won’t get a portrait mode full swivel in this display — but that’s not surprising, given how long it is on its longest edge, compared to the vertical. You do get tilt if you need it, and the ability to angle back and forward depending on how you have it positioned. The end result is a display that’s very large, but easy enough to adjust for your comfortable use.
The display comes calibrated out of the box, but also includes plenty of options for adjusting things like contrast and brightness using the built-in menus. This also includes a very useful multi-device display setup, including both picture-in-picture features for multiple sources, and a picture-by-picture mode that splits the display into two equal side-by-side sections for multiple inputs. Another useful feature for working with the display with multiple computers: keyboards and mice connected via the monitor will automatically detect and switch between controlling both connected PCs.

Besides the display size and resolution, the other thing that makes the UltraSharp 40 a fantastic option for a home workstation is its range of ports and added bonuses like built-in speakers. The speakers aren’t going to win any audiophile awards, but they’re better than the ones that come built into your laptop and they obviate the need for additional equipment if you’re looking to spare your desk surface space. With any modern Thunderbolt-equipped Mac, the Dell UltraSharp 40 really is a one-cable wonder that offers very little in the way of compromises.

Bottom line
With the Dell UltraSharp 40, the company continues its tradition of delivering extremely high-quality display products at a reasonable price. The $2,100 price tag may seem steep, but for what you’re getting it’s a very fair price point, and Dell’s displays also have very high reliability that means an investment in their monitors is likely to keep you satisfied for many years to come (two of my home office displays are some of Dell’s very first 4K monitors, which have served me reliably for over half a decade).

Because of its wide aspect ratio and curve, this display really does replace two smaller 4K screens for most uses, and so the cost framed that way actually makes even more sense. In short, Dell’s UltraSharp 40 is a home office beast, which fills a sweet spot for a wide range of remote professionals.

Apple has adjusted the trade-in values of many of its products overnight. Some devices, such as iPads, have seen moderate increases in value, while others, such as Macs, have experienced decreases.

Apple incentivizes customers to upgrade by offering the option to trade in older devices in exchange for credit towards a new purchase. The latest changes to the trade-in program's values, spotted by iMore, include iPads, Apple Watches, Macs, and even some Android devices.

Apple has increased the maximum trade-in value of many products in its iPad lineup. The iPad Pro has increased by $25 to $525. The iPad Air and entry-level ‌iPad‌ have gained $40, reaching $250 and $240 respectively. Finally, the iPad mini has increased from $175 to $205.

Apple has given a minor boost to the value of the Apple Watch models. The Apple Watch Series 3 and Apple Watch Series 4 have increased by $10 to $95 and $150, while the Apple Watch Series 1 has increased from $30 to $35.

On the other hand, various Macs have seen cuts to their trade-in value. The MacBook Pro is down from $1,760 to $1,530, which is a reduction of $230. The MacBook Air has also lost $100, down to $630, while the MacBook is down to $380 from $450.

With regards to desktops, the iMac Pro has seen a significant cut of $540, down to just $3,040. The iMac is down to $1,180 from $1,390, and the Mac mini is down to $830 from $930. The Mac Pro appears to be the only Mac to have gained value, with a major increase of almost double the previous $1,490 price. Customers can now trade in the ‌Mac Pro‌ for $2,930.

For Android devices, the Samsung Galaxy S20 has fallen in price from $270 to $225, while the Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+, as well as Google Pixel devices, have seen minor increases.

These prices reflect the maximum value that customers can expect for their device. The actual valuation will be dependent on the condition of the device.

Analysts have recently suggested that Apple's trade-in program could become a key part of an all-in-one hardware and software subscription service in the future, should Apple combine with the iPhone Upgrade Program and Apple One.

See Apple's full list of maximum trade-in prices for more information on trade-in values.

Seagate confirms 20TB HAMR hard disk drives have been shipped
By Desire Athow

Seagate has exclusively confirmed to TechRadar Pro that it has started to ship 20TB hard disk drives, but don't rush out to buy one just yet, because they are not currently available to consumers.

The drive, which sports the largest HDD capacity to date, is likely to be part of the Exos family as we revealed back in August 2020, despite the fact that this SKU is still conspicuously absent from the Seagate website.

A spokesperson for the company told us that Seagate is "shipping these drives on a limited basis in our Electronic Data Systems (EDS) products and to select datacenter customers, as we continue collecting production and field data".

iPhone 11 Owners Experiencing Unusual Green Tint on Display

It's unclear what's causing the green tint to appear, but an iOS update seems to be the most likely culprit.

By Matthew Humphries
June 8, 2020

Ever since Apple released the iOS 13.4.1 update, some iPhone 11 owners have encountered a new and unusual problem with their phones. For a few seconds after unlocking their handset, the entire screen suffers from a uniform green tint.

As MacRumors reports, the tint can occur on any of the latest generation of iPhone with an OLED display, so the iPhone 11, 11 Pro, and 11 Pro Max are all susceptible. Some iPhone X owners are experiencing the same problem, too. Thankfully, it isn't permanent and disappears quickly after an unlock. However, other users have experienced it happening when the screen brightness is at its lowest settings or Dark Mode and Night Shift are enabled. Even those who experience it after a phone unlock state it's not every time, and although iOS 13.4.1 seems to be when the green tint first appeared, iOS 13.5 doesn't solve the problem.

According to Forbes, Apple has accepted this is a hardware fault in some cases and approved a display replacement be fitted under warranty. There also doesn't seem to be a time frame after which the green tint appears, with some users stating it happened on brand new iPhones that were being powered on for the first time. One MacRumors forum user states the display was replaced on his iPhone, but the green tint remained, which adds to the evidence this is being caused by a software problem

For now, it remains unclear what the underlying cause is, but Apple is aware of it and hopefully is working to track down the fault. If you're experiencing the green tint, there's very little you can do other than be patient seeing as even a new OLED panel might not stop it from happening again.

iPhone 12 Lineup With OLED Displays Predicted to Start at $649, Breaking the $999 Barrier
Thursday April 30, 2020 7:06 am PDT by Joe Rossignol
Apple has never sold a new iPhone with an OLED display for under $999, but with the iPhone 12 lineup expected to include a wider range of models, that could soon change.

iPhone 12 pricing could start at $649 this year, according to Jon Prosser of the YouTube channel Front Page Tech. Prosser says this information comes from his same source who accurately revealed the new iPhone SE's launch date.
The prices would be as follows:

5.4-inch iPhone 12: $649
6.1-inch iPhone 12: $749
6.1-inch iPhone 12 Pro: $999
6.7-inch iPhone 12 Pro Max: $1,099
All four models are expected to feature OLED displays and 5G support, as analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has previously claimed. The less expensive 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch models are said to have dual-lens rear cameras, while the more expensive 6.1-inch model and 6.7-inch models are expected to have triple-lens rear cameras with a LiDAR Scanner.

Even if these prices are merely educated guesses, it is reasonable to assume that Apple will finally offer an OLED-based iPhone for less than $999 this year. Given its smaller size and lower pricing, the 5.4-inch iPhone could easily become one of Apple's best selling iPhone models ever, especially during these uncertain times.

Apple is expected to unveil its iPhone 12 lineup in September, although at least one model might not become available to order until October or November.

Topic of the post is : Battery by Apple Product..
As we know we are facing problem with all kind of battery still in this generation. I just want to share some facts of the battery ..

- All rechargeable batteries have a limited lifespan and may eventually need to be serviced or recycled. Your own battery’s lifespan will vary depending on how you use your device as well as the settings you choose for it.

- If you need to charge your battery more and more frequently, it might be time to service it. For products with built-in lithium-ion polymer batteries, the batteries should be serviced by Apple or an authorized service provider.

- Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 500 complete charge cycles. The one-year warranty includes service coverage for a defective battery.

- Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 1000 complete charge cycles. The one-year warranty (for Apple Watch and Apple Watch Sport) and two-year warranty (for Apple Watch Edition) include service coverage for a defective battery.

- Your battery is designed to retain up to 80% of its original capacity at 400 complete charge cycles. The one-year warranty includes service coverage for a defective battery.

- Putting any battery directly in the trash is dangerous for the environment and for those who live in it. By servicing your Apple batteries only through Apple or an Apple authorized service provider, you can be sure they’ll be recycled with respect for the earth. You can recycle your entire device with us, battery included — you might even qualify for a credit to use toward a new Apple product.

iOS 14 Leak: Apple Testing New iMessage Features Such as Slack-Like Mentions and Unsending Messages .

Apple Testing New iMessage Features Such as Mentions and Retracting Messages, Could Extend to Mac App
Apple is testing new iMessage features internally, according to information obtained by MacRumors. While these features could potentially arrive as early as iOS 14, they could be held back until a later software update or perhaps never released.

For starters, there is a new Slack-like mention system that would allow users to tag other contacts with their name like or . When you type the @ sign, a list of suggested contacts would appear. This would be particularly useful in busy group chat conversations, as it would be possible to enable the "Hide Alerts" setting and only receive push notifications when you are mentioned directly.
Apple is also testing the ability to retract iMessages after sending them. Fine print visible to both the sender and recipients would indicate that a message has been retracted. It is unclear if there will be a time limit on retracting messages.

Other features in development include typing indicators in group chats, as already exists in one-on-one iMessage conversations; the ability to mark the last message of a conversation as unread after opening it; and an expansion of the "/me" command for sharing status updates, a feature that has been available on the Mac since the iChat days.

Last year, developer Steve Troughton-Smith uncovered evidence of Apple working on a Catalyst-based version of the Messages app for Mac in macOS Catalina code, and a lot of the features described above would be fitting for the desktop. This could make Messages for Mac a more viable team-based chat app rivaling Slack. For emphasis, there is no guarantee that Apple plans to make all or any of these features available in iOS 14, but testing has taken place in recent months. Keep track of all of the features and changes expected in our iOS 14 roundup.

If you're writing code in Python, JavaScript, Java and PHP, relax. The hot trendy languages are still miles behind, this survey says

Do not pass Go, do not collect garbage

The Python programming language continues to find more fans, having tied Java as the second most popular programming language, according to analysis conducted by IT consultancy Redmonk.

JavaScript meanwhile has maintained its position at the top of the chart, as measured by the number of StackOverflow tags and the number of public projects based on the language stored with GitHub.

Redmonk's biannual survey of programming language popularity makes no pretense at being a definitive ranking of worldwide popularity or overall industry usage. It's simply a measurement of available data that provides a sense of language trends.

Code communities that exist outside of StackOverflow, such as Mathematica, the consultancy notes, may be underrepresented.

With caveats about the statistical limitations of the survey in mind (and forbearance with regard to the non-sequential ranking scheme adopted by Redmonk), the latest iteration of the top 20 list reads as follows, with duplicate numbers representing parity in popularity:

1 JavaScript
2 Python
2 Java
4 PHP
5 C #
6 C++
7 Ruby
7 CSS
9 TypeScript
9 C
11 Swift
12 Objective-C
13 Scala
13 R
15 Go
15 Shell
17 PowerShell
18 Perl
19 Kotlin
20 Haskell
Redmonk co-founder Stephen O'Grady observes that Python's ascendance marks the first time since 2012 that a programming language other than Java or JavaScript has occupied the number two slot.

Python has seen its popularity grow thanks to its accessibility and its utility for scientific and AI-oriented programming. A survey by GitHub offered similar results back in November, which isn't surprising given the presumed data set overlap.

TypeScript, a superset of JavaScript that supports typed data, continued its rise, having broken into the top 10 first in June 2019. That ended five years where the set of top 10 languages remained unchanged (though positions within that group shifted).

"TypeScript is buoyed by both its ability to intermingle with a large existing codebase in JavaScript and its potential ability to make the resulting code safer," O'Grady observed.

R, Python's nerdier data-focused rival, also made a strong showing, rising two places in the ranking. O'Grady argues that given its specialized nature, R's popularity has probably hit its ceiling.

Go managed to improve its position, but O'Grady suggests the Google-backed language has hovered in the mod-teen ranks for several years and like R appears unlikely to change much in the near-term.

Rust in peace
Rust, also oriented toward systems programming, has a reputation for being more difficult to learn than Go. Though it offers stronger protections against certain kinds of errors due to its unique design, its popularity, at least by Redmonk's measure, has remained flat.

Looking ahead a few years, Rust could make some gains if the programming language preferences of the Google team developing Fuchsia, the company's nascent multi-device operating system, resonate with the broader developer community. Rust has been approved for developers working on Fuchsia's Zircon kernel while Go has been rejected for anything except the operating system's Go-based netstack (and the hope is to get rid of Go there too).

For the Fuchsia team, Go, a garbage-collected language, just doesn't meet their performance requirements.

"The Fuchsia Platform Source Tree has had negative implementation experience using Go," the Fuchsia devs explain in their language policy. "The system components the Fuchsia project has built in Go have used more memory and kernel resources than their counterparts (or replacements) the Fuchsia project has built using C++ or Rust."

Speaking of Fuchsia, Redmonk observed a significant uptick in Dart's popularity. The language, which can be compiled into JavaScript, reached rank 24, up from rank 33 only 18 months ago. O'Grady attributed Dart's surge to interest in Flutter, a UI toolkit for building cross-platform desktop, web, and mobile apps that relies on Dart.

Given that Dart is one of the approved languages for Fuchsia app development, it could become more popular still if and when Google releases a stable, consumer-oriented version of the operating system.

That's expected to happen within three years. Last year, Google hired Apple engineer Bill Stevenson to help launch Fuchsia. Currently, the operating system can be installed on a 64-bit Intel machine with at least 8GB of RAM, though it's in an unfinished state. ®
