Role of non-government / private accrediting agencies for higher education quality assurance. Here are some examples, how government can leverage such agencies for quality assurance.

1. United States: In the United States, higher education accreditation is primarily carried out by private accrediting agencies recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. These agencies, such as the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, the Higher Learning Commission, Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, assess the quality and standards of colleges and universities across the country.
2. United Kingdom: In the UK, the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) is an independent body that operates as a private accrediting agency. The QAA reviews and monitors the quality and standards of higher education institutions in the UK, ensuring they meet the set benchmarks.
3. Australia: Australia has a system of private accrediting agencies known as the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA). TEQSA assesses and monitors the quality and standards of higher education providers in Australia, including universities and non-university higher education institutions.
4. Canada: In Canada, there are several private accrediting agencies responsible for higher education quality assurance. For example, the Council on Accreditation of Canadian University Programs in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CACUP-ASLP) and the Engineering Accreditation Board (EAB) evaluate and accredit specific programs in their respective disciplines.
