Difference Between BPO and Call Center
If call center is a business operations and it’s outsourced, it is a part of BPO. BPO is a superset and Call center is a subset of BPO. BPO involves different processes based on the outsourced company business needs. It includes simple processes, complex processes and critical business processes as well. The talent requirement varies and is dependent based on the type of process.
Call Center revolves around communication/customer relationship management whereas BPO has a wide scope ranging from simple data entry (Basic knowledge of computer) to Data Analytics ( using analytics tools like SAS, SPSS etc and providing insights.
To sum up, it is a misconception among people outside the BPO field that BPO jobs are low end and does not require any skill set. Anyone can do this job, they are highly mistaken. BPO jobs are like any other jobs which require business related skills to perform it and it is not the same Call Center.
