ROV Trainer version 2.2 is out! 🐙🎉 This is a massive update. First, we've added support for three new 🤖 ROVs: Blue Robotics BlueROV2, Deep Trekker Revolution, and Chasing Underwater Drones M2. These are in addition to the Triton XLX and Saab Seaeye Falcon, which were already supported.

🏗️ LARS: For users of Industrial and Enterprise editions, LARS functionality is now available. You can now launch and recover the ROV using the LARS. We've also added an entirely new 3D above-water environment, including the sea surface, vessel, cranes, and the LARS.

🎮 Handheld Support: We've added support for handheld Windows PCs, such as ASUS ROG Ally, MSI Claw and others. You can now install the simulator on a handheld Windows PC and practice ROV operations with a control layout similar to a real handheld ROV console.

PaleBlue has been awarded a project by the ESA - European Space Agency to research and develop advanced XR input methods for space applications. Working within a pan-European consortium, this project interfaces directly with three ESA offices: Space Operations Centre ESOC, Astronaut Centre EAC, and Space Research and Technology Centre ESTEC. The team will develop a multimodal XR framework, implement critical space-based use cases, and conduct comprehensive evaluations to guide future development. The consortium comprises Scanway S.A., Extend Robotics, Space Applications Services NV/SA and PaleBlue.

PaleBlue exhibited at the MATE ROV Competition Finals in St. John's, Newfoundland in Canada, hosted by the Marine Institute, Memorial University.

The world finals brought together 80 teams from 18 different countries. Throughout the competition, teams showcased the underwater ROVs they designed and built, presenting their engineering solutions to judges through technical reviews, pool-based missions, and open-water challenges.

At the event, PaleBlue gave participants the opportunity to pilot an industrial work-class ROV in the company's high-fidelity ROV Trainer simulator, providing hands-on insight into real-world underwater operations. The simulation exposed teams to realistic conditions, including limited visibility, strong currents, and the challenges faced by professional ROV pilots.

We would like to thank MATE and Jill Zande for the invitation and for the opportunity to be part of such an inspiring event.

PaleBlue had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from Dubai's Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC), led by H.E. Salem Al Marri, Director General, to our headquarters in Stavanger, Norway.

During the visit, the delegation explored the latest advancements in simulation, robotics, and training technologies developed by PaleBlue. We had a number of productive discussions about technology development and future plans across various space programs.

A special thank you to Victoria Stensø and for facilitating this visit and making it possible.

Congratulations to the ESA - European Space Agency reserve astronauts on successfully completing the ESA training programme, including training with the PaleBlue VR simulator.

Since October 2024, the astronauts have undergone extensive preparation across a wide range of disciplines, including human behaviour and performance, medical training, scientific operations, spacecraft systems, flight engineering, and life support systems.

An important component of the programme was VR-based training on the ISS digital twin, developed by PaleBlue. Through the simulator, astronauts experienced virtual zero gravity and practiced navigation and operational tasks in weightlessness. The training also allowed them to familiarize themselves with all ISS modules, rehearse operational procedures, and respond to emergency scenarios in an immersive environment.

We extend our best wishes to all members of the astronaut reserve and look forward to welcoming them again in our simulator training systems in the future.

ESA’s astronaut reserve members have completed their Astronaut Reserve Training (ART) programme, marking a key milestone in Europe’s human spaceflight ambitions.

PaleBlue attended the MATE Texas Regional ROV Competition, part of the international MATE ROV Competition program that challenges students to design, build, and operate underwater robots while solving mission tasks inspired by real-world applications.

In June 2026, the regional finals took place at the University of Houston. Teams across three student divisions competed in designing and piloting ROVs, with more than a dozen teams taking on the challenge of building and operating underwater robots.

PaleBlue supported the event by bringing a PaleBlue ROV Trainer station, where students had the opportunity to pilot both small and large ROVs in a simulated underwater environment. PaleBlue also awarded the winning team with a license for the training system.

We would like to thank the organizers for inviting us to be part of this inspiring event!
