Congratulations to the ESA - European Space Agency reserve astronauts on successfully completing the ESA training programme, including training with the PaleBlue VR simulator.
Since October 2024, the astronauts have undergone extensive preparation across a wide range of disciplines, including human behaviour and performance, medical training, scientific operations, spacecraft systems, flight engineering, and life support systems.
An important component of the programme was VR-based training on the ISS digital twin, developed by PaleBlue. Through the simulator, astronauts experienced virtual zero gravity and practiced navigation and operational tasks in weightlessness. The training also allowed them to familiarize themselves with all ISS modules, rehearse operational procedures, and respond to emergency scenarios in an immersive environment.
We extend our best wishes to all members of the astronaut reserve and look forward to welcoming them again in our simulator training systems in the future.
ESA’s astronaut reserve members have completed their Astronaut Reserve Training (ART) programme, marking a key milestone in Europe’s human spaceflight ambitions.
