MY APPS WILL STOP WORKING FOR GOOD

I ended my company, and stopped working with my apps many years ago. At the same time I stopped taking money for ads++ from Microsoft for my apps.

Since I saw that there still were shockingly many people still using apps like Trine's Hangman, I have each year kept paying for the servers.

But now I have decided to stop paying the approx 1000 USD in total yearly cost for the servers, SSL, databases, so forth.
I just can't continue sponsoring this project any more.

This means that during this summer the web site will stop working, and at the same time some of my apps will stop working.

Trine's Hangman will probably be most severely affected. Since that game uses web services on my web server for much functionality.

In other words, all my old apps might stop working during this summer.

It was fun while it lasted!

Life is not easy for a developer :O

Jeg publiserte en større endring i går kveld...og utrolig nok har Microsoft akkurat samtidig en særs uheldig publiserings-feil i Windows Store.

Ser ikke lenger advarselen om denne feilen på Microsoft sin utviklerhub, så da kan vi nok konkludere med at feilen er rettet.

REIS kollektivt blir synlig i Store igjen om noen timer.

Ruter hadde ikke lagt ned det åpne APIet, det var bare en feil hos de, men dette ble rettet i dag morges.

Har dessverre måtte fjerne appen min "REIS kollektivt" fra Store (slår til om kort), siden appen har sluttet å fungere.

Har ikke fått svar fra Ruter ennå, men trolig har en av API-serverne jeg får mot hos de blitt lagt ned uten at de har tenkt på at jeg bruker API der.

Så søk, ruteplanlegger og nærmeste ser ut til å ikke fungere.

Jeg oppdaget dette nå i ettermiddag, og har nå sendt inn min første ever "please fjern appen min fra Store" til Microsoft.

Slik at ikke masse nye brukere ender opp med en ubrukelig app, ille nok med de som har appen fra før skal oppleve dette.

Jeg skal finne ut av det og hvis den ene API-serveren er lagt ned, så skal jeg få laget ny versjon av WP8-appen, i løpet av kort tid.

Men WP7-appen får jeg ikke fikset siden jeg ikke får min gamle WP7-kode til å bygge på min nye PC. Så der er jeg avhengig av at dette bare er en temporær issue hos Ruter og at alt kommer opp igjen.

Jeg vet egentlig litt lite akkurat nå, men oppdaterer her når jeg vet mer.

Wow, what a day...I had actually gotten TWO mails from AdDuplex, just discovered it when I re-read the first email.

Trine's Hangman actually have gotten an even better award than REIS kollektivt, it is awarded as an ROYAL HERO APP.

Is it only me or does that award name give you an Pulp Fiction vibe? :)

My public transportation app "REIS kollektivt" will be 50% off until 15. September.

Celebrating that I just got an email from AdDuplex stating it has been awarded as an EPIC HERO APP by them.

Note that the price reduction might not be visible in the Store for a day or so.

Finally my new web site is finished.

With new structure, so it is ready for my new Universal Windows 10 apps.

The site is responsive, which is just a fancy word for "looks good on phone, tablet and PCs" or mobile-friendly. The site just adapts to different screen sizes.

It is now also dual-language, so you can switch between Norwegian and English.
..now I can focus on the Windows 10 apps :)

Just published a very simple little app, Band Heartbeat.

The app takes the pulse from your Microsoft Band and shows an beating heart with sound that animates with the same as your pulse.

Such an basic app is of course totally free...I just made it while learning the SDK for Microsoft Band. I actually found it a bit weird that no one has made such an app for the Band yet. It is one thing to just see "67 BPM" versus seeing and hearing the actual rhythm that number represent.

Ny versjon av REIS kollektivt ble publisert i går (versjon 5.2.14.)

Den ble laget i all hast siden jeg oppdaget at avviksinformasjonen i REIS kollektivt hadde sluttet å fungere. Viste seg at Ruter hadde slått av et API.

Appen går nå mot et nytt avviks-API hos Ruter, så avvik fungerer igjen. Dessverre støtter ikke det nye APIet mulighet for å hente alle avvik, så jeg måtte fjerne "trafikkflyt"/søk-i-alle-avvik-delen av appen. Forhåpentlig blir dette mulig igjen i fremtidige API fra Ruter så jeg kan legge det tilbake.

Jobber med neste versjon nå i påsken. Kun litt småfiksing og småforbedringer på planen enn så lenge.

I am at the final testing for version 5.1 of Trine's Hangman.

If the last testing goes without any issues, it will be sent to Microsoft later today, and should be visible to end-users in a couple of days.

SOME OF THE NEWS
Done a lot of fine tuning of performance, layouts and the "create a player name" and "login" workflows. Some minor bugs have also been corrected.

There is now also an optional "debugging mode", which players themselves can turn on after getting a key from me (it is off as default)). This can be a very usefull tool for resolving any issue a player might have that I am unable to reproduce/fix at my end.

The game will now also automatically download updated word lists from my server.

This means I can respond faster too feedback I get on the word lists, since I do not need to update the whole app everytime I have corrected a couple of words.

Ooops...the new version People Search had a bug that actually could crash the whole app in some circumstances (when you opened the details page for an contact).

The error has been fixed, and new version is sent to Microsoft. It should be in the Store within the next few hours.

The fixed version will appear as 3.1.26.

If you do not see the new version later today, try to exit the store app, and go back to the application page in the Store, this will typically force the Store app to refresh with latest info.
..and I appologize to anyone who might have experienced this error.
Can't promise it will never happen again though, but at least I can promise I will fix fast :)

The changes I had to do to fix this bug, actually has made the opening of the details page FASTER...so something good came from all this.

People Search has been updated this week and 3.1 is now available in the Store.

You can now control how large or small everything in the app shall be.
People with a 6 inch Lumia 1520 (and good eyes) can lots of info on the screen.
And people who has small phones, or poor eyesight can get everything large and easy to read.

Sorting and marking of hits in searchresults has also been improved.

You can oversteer the theme of the app (auto/dark/light).

And the app resumes faster and is even more stable.
