TS Playout, more than a feature.
We’ve been saying for a while that a probe should be more than just a pair of eyes on the network. It should be a tool that actively helps you build, test, and run the broadcast chain. The new TS playout functionality for the VB330 and VB220 is exactly that.
It turns what was originally ‘just’ a monitoring device (albeit an incredibly sophisticated, highly functional and incredibly intuitive one) into a device that performs a far greater range of roles. Not only can it record and clip-edit streams for validation, compliance and diagnosis, but now it can actively generate those streams as signals for network setup. Need to validate your entire distribution chain before cameras, switchers, or encoders are even in place? Now you can.
Here’s what it does:
• Plays out pre-recorded or uploaded TS files to any receiver, supporting bitrates up to 100 Mbps per stream, with up to 12 simultaneous playouts.
• Handles SPTS, MPTS, CBR and VBR files - sent to multicast or unicast destinations.
• Uses PTP synchronisation to achieve lab-grade timing with lower PCR jitter than comparable systems, meaning no buffer sync issues and minimal latency.
The tech detail matters, but the bigger story is this: combined with last year’s recording capabilities, the VB330 now moves beyond monitoring. It’s a holistic tool - recording, generating, analysing, all from a single interface.
Come see it in action at IBC (Booth 1.A71) - where you’ll see it just one way we’re committing to the idea of ‘doing more with less’.
