Looking back at the Intel Z390 platform launch in October 2018, we followed the playbook of the X470 Taichi from earlier that year by debuting two flagship motherboards: the standard Z390 Taichi and the Z390 Taichi Ultimate with 10GbE networking.

Our users made their preferences clear through their choices. The core Taichi audience wanted a solid, well-rounded flagship experience, while top-tier features like 10GbE served a user group with more specific needs: content creators. So the "Ultimate" name came to a close with this generation, and 10GbE lived on in our Creator series, built specifically for creators.

Listening to our users' choices is where every next-generation flagship begins.

🕰️ Back to April 2018.

The X470 Taichi and X470 Taichi Ultimate made their debut. With this generation, we asked ourselves: How could we evolve the Taichi design without losing what made it unique?

⚙️ The answer was the gear motif. We kept this signature element, but gave it greater depth, dimension, and a more refined sense of craftsmanship, creating a more layered and sophisticated take on the iconic Taichi aesthetic.

🛠️ The response was incredibly positive, and we were especially pleased to see Taichi becoming a favorite centerpiece in the PC modding community, inspiring many creative builds along the way.

🚀 With the X470 generation, we also introduced something new: the “Ultimate” edition.

🌐 The X470 Taichi Ultimate was essentially identical to the X470 Taichi in specifications, with one key addition: a 10GbE LAN port. With this, we wanted to explore the needs of content creators and other professional users, as faster internal network speeds could significantly improve large file transfers and overall workflow efficiency.

X399M Taichi - Small board. Big ambition.

⚡ To deliver the full-featured flagship experience expected from the Taichi series, most Taichi motherboards adopt larger ATX or E-ATX form factors, providing the space needed for robust power delivery, extensive expansion, and high-end hardware.

📅 Launched in February 2018, the X399M Taichi pushed those hardware limitations into a much smaller footprint. It was not only the first mATX motherboard in the Taichi series, but also the only mATX X399 motherboard available on the market at the time.

🔧 By fitting the massive AMD TR4 socket, quad-channel memory support, and a high-end X399 platform into an mATX design, ASRock delivered powerful specifications and performance within a much more compact layout. The X399M Taichi was more than just a smaller Taichi—it further demonstrated ASRock’s technical expertise in motherboard design, circuit layout planning, and space optimization.
