Giving ambulances 🚑 and fire trucks 🚒priority is, for most people, a no-brainer. But what about priority for a cycling group 🚲🚲🚲🚲 (children cycling to school together – at least in the Netherlands 😉) or for public transport 🚌 that is about to run late if they miss the green lights?

This pilot aims to control traffic lights based on the nr of vehicles on the cycle path to improve their flow and run the lights effectively.

Can C-ITS create fuel savings for transport companies? Yes, it can! Already in 2020, we published an interesting article on this topic. With current fuel prices, it even is a more interesting article from a price perspective. However, let’s not forget the environmental aspect either, as CO2 emission reduction is definitively a benefit on its own.

According to results of the 'Connected Transport Corridors' project, trucks connected to iTLCs consume a lot less fuel than regular trucks.
