Meet James Henry PhD. Over 35 years of tinnitus research. More than 250 publications. And now part of the Freequency advisory board.

James spent the majority of his career at the VA Portland Health Care System, where he focused on tinnitus assessment and evidence-based management protocols. His work has shaped how audiologists think about structured tinnitus care.

We are proud to have his expertise informing the development of Freequency as we expand in the US.

50 million Americans live with tinnitus. Most of them never receive structured support beyond their first clinic visit. That is the gap we are building for.

Running a tinnitus clinic?
You've probably noticed a growing number of digital tools for tinnitus. Most of them work around tinnitus — sound masking, relaxation, CBT content delivered through an app.

Freequency takes a different approach. Instead of avoiding the tinnitus signal, we train the response to it. Ten minutes a day, using augmented reality and exposure-based therapy grounded in ACT, developed alongside leading tinnitus researchers and audiologists.

Our white paper (N=110) shows 41.8% of users reaching a clinically relevant improvement on the TFI. Among consistent users: over half.

We're currently onboarding clinical partners in the US as part of our pilot.

Tinnitus affects 50 million Americans. Yet for most of them, support ends at the clinic door.

Several US clinics have started piloting Freequency to find out what changes when patients have a structured, daily tool between appointments. Not just for the patient, but for the practice too. What does consistent daily engagement look like? How does it fit into existing care? What impact does it have on outcomes and workload?

That's exactly what these pilots are designed to find out.

If you work in audiology or tinnitus care and want to explore what a pilot could look like for your clinic, we'd love to talk.

Cohort 2 has started! 🚀

Yesterday, the second group of our US pilot kicked off. A new group of people with tinnitus in the United States who will be using Freequency for the next 100 days — and helping us build the best possible version of the app for the American market. Cohort 1 already taught us a lot.

Freequency helps people with tinnitus retrain how their brain responds to the sound, through short daily sessions using spatial audio, grounded in ACT, CBT, and sound exposure therapy. Already used by over 20,000 people in the Netherlands.

Now we're bringing it to the US. And we need more people to help us get it right.

👉 Cohort 3 starts June 17th. Do you have tinnitus and live in the United States? Or do you know someone who does?

Freequency has been featured in Hearing Review🎉

The article covers our entry into the US market and the approach behind the app — using principles from CBT, ACT, and exposure therapy to help people change their relationship with tinnitus. Not by masking the sound, but by training how the brain responds to it.

We're proud to be recognized by a publication that reaches audiologists and hearing care professionals across the US. It reflects a shift we're seeing in the field: more attention for behavior-based, daily-use tools that support patients beyond the clinic.

The article also highlights the clinical experts and members of our clinical advisory board:
→ Steven C. Hayes, PhD — founder of ACT
→ Gerhard Andersson, PhD — leading CBT and tinnitus researcher
→ Jan de Laat, PhD — clinical physicist–audiologist

The first cohort of our US pilot is underway. Cohort 2 starts on the 20th of may!

After supporting thousands of users in the Netherlands, we are exploring how Freequency fits the needs of people with tinnitus in the US. As a pilot participant, you get free early access to the app and your experience directly shapes how Freequency is developed and introduced here.

What to expect:

10 minutes a day, in your own environment, at your own pace
Evidence-based approach grounded in CBT, ACT and exposure therapy
Educational content about tinnitus and how the brain responds to it
A few short check-ins to track how things evolve over time

You can join if you are 18 or older, live in the United States, and experience tinnitus.

You are not just testing an app. You are helping shape how this approach will be offered to others in the US.
