Cenosco's Djallel Lameche, Customer Success Manager, has spent the past two days at NAPEC 2026 in Oran, and his conversations on the floor kept circling back to the same question: how do operators move asset integrity from a compliance checklist to a strategic lever for the region's energy transition.
Day 1 set the broader frame. The conference agenda centers on a new energy mix approach, balancing energy security, affordability, and decarbonization. For asset-intensive operators, that balance depends on maximizing recovery from existing assets while bringing AI and digitalization into inspection and maintenance decisions, not as a separate initiative, but as part of how teams already work day to day.
Day 2 moved from that framing into ex*****on. On the exhibition floor, Djallel's conversations with operators, engineering teams, and technology partners kept returning to a few consistent points.
First, there is a clear shift underway: downstream and petrochemical operators are increasingly treating Asset Integrity Management less as a mandatory checklist and more as a genuine strategic advantage, something that protects margin and uptime, not just something that satisfies an auditor.
Second, in ammonia and urea production specifically, severe corrosion risk makes real Risk-Based Inspection a priority rather than a nice-to-have. The interest on the floor was less about whether to adopt RBI and more about how to use it to manage corrosion risk while also tightening turnaround schedules, since both goals pull on the same inspection data.
Third, there is a growing recognition that tighter, smarter integrity management is not a separate workstream from the region's decarbonization goals. Advanced degradation management and better data are part of how that transition actually gets delivered, not a parallel initiative competing for the same budget.
The thread running through Djallel's conversations from both days: when teams have the right data connected to the right context, they move from monitoring assets to actively managing the risk ahead of it. That shift, from reactive to predictive, from checklist to strategy, is what kept coming up in nearly every conversation.
One day left at NAPEC. If you are at the CCO, Djallel would be glad to connect before the event wraps up. Book a meeting here ➡https://hubs.la/Q04z00pn0
