So finally the news is out and we can mention it: Amazon acquired EMotion FX.

It is now part of Lumberyard and it is not available anymore as standalone middleware.

The good thing is it is now completely free as part of the engine. And we have an awesome team working on it backed by the resources of Amazon.

The integration of EMotion FX in Lumberyard is still in preview and the interface styling still needs to be improved a lot. It came from a standalone tool into an existing engine editor with its own style, so it will take some time to get it all looking good.

The future of EMotion FX is hereby secured and we will get to work on some exciting new technologies! :)

We have just released the September 2016 update! This includes brand new artist documentation (~285 images, ~56000 words), many user interface and workflow improvements in EMotion Studio and some in the exporter plugins, bug fixes, multithread performance improvements, a new unit system (meters, cm, millimeters, etc), named uv and color sets, and more.

We have just released the EMotion FX 4 July 2016 Update! This update is focused on workflow and stability improvements to EMotion Studio. We have fixed a lot of issues and improved many many things. Also we added some new things such as an auto-save functionality. We also have done an initial integration with IKinema for full body IK support.

We want to inform you that the EMotion FX 4 May 2016 update has been released!

This update focuses on EMotion Studio and contains over one hundred of improvements and fixes!

The API also has some small improvements like automatic memory tracking to see detailed in-game memory usage statistics.

As we are expanding our team we are also searching for an animation programmer who will work fulltime remotely.

The February 2016 update of EMotion FX is now available! This update now has a final API design, a brand new threading system, improved performance, polygon export support, maya shader attribute export support, updated Qt version, improved attribute system, bug fixes and many other improvements.

The October 2015 update of EMotion FX has just been released. This puts focus on a brand new runtime mirroring system that requires no special preprocessing by the exporters. Also character mirror setup is now done inside EMotion Studio. There is also a brand new Mirror Pose node so you can mirror the result of for example a blend tree. Sync tracks get mirrored as well, so left foot events become right foot events. Several fixes and improvements have been made to EMotion Studio as well.

A new update has been released for EMotion FX 4. Focused on improved cross platform functionality. Now ships with pre-compiled libs for Windows, MacOSX, Linux, Android and Linux. Compiles without warnings on all platforms and all tested compilers. Also Visual Studio 2015 support has been added as well as several other improvements.

The April update for EMotion FX 4 is now available. Some of its highlights are that motion files can now contain both skeletal animation and morph animation. Morphing is also supported in the blend setups and by the visual debugger. Several crash fixes in EMotion Studio, some improvements to the attachment system and easy compilation for Android and iOS. Auto-applying of meta data on export. Several fixes inside the exporters, batch exporters and previewer and improved FBX skinned character import support.

The February 2015 update of EMotion FX 4 has just been released and is now available for download from our support site.

This update fixes some issues, adds support for synchronization in combination with backwards playback, makes some text easier to read inside the graph of EMotion Studio and makes it easy to select random motions inside the blend setups.

The EMotion FX November 2014 Update has just been released and is available for download. The main new feature is the visual debugger along with several other smaller improvements and fixes.
