SNEAK PREVIEW: I almost finished my latest painting commission, featuring this stunning 1975 Porsche 911 RSR 3.0 with Henninger Beer livery. It was raced in period by German-Canadian Ludwig Heimrath in North America, in various IMSA & SCCA events.

Until very recent it was part of the fantastic collection of 911motorsport. I hope this painting will bring back many happy memories and gets a nice place on their walls! Stay tuned for the final result!

This white behemoth is a Mercedes-Benz SSK. I took some pictures of it during my visit to the works museum last summer.

The name SSK is an abbreviation of Super Sport Kurz, German for “Super Sport Short”, as it was a short wheelbase development of the Model S. The SSK’s performance and numerous competitive successes made it one of the most highly regarded sports cars of its era

The SSK chassis was 480 mm shorter than the Modell S to make the car even lighter and more agile for racing, especially short races and hillclimbs. Fitted with a supercharged single overhead camshaft 7-litre straight-6 engine (producing 300 bhp / 680 Nm) the SSK had a top speed of up to 200 km/h, making it the fastest car of its day.

Only 33 SSKs were built (between 1928 and 1932) of which about half were sold as Racecars. Many were crashed while racing and subsequently cannibalised for parts. Only four or five entirely original models remain, and their scarcity and rich heritage make them among the most sought after cars in the world.

EVEN BETTER THAN THE REAL THING: featuring the well-known Ferrari 250 GTO 64 (replica) by , driven at full speed along the start-finish straight of the Dutch .

You can see (and hear) this fabulous racecar at the exact same track during the weekend, where it’s participating in the again.

The original (handpainted) artwork (acrylics on canvas, 100x70 cm, framed in white wood) is still on show and for sale. I’m asking €1250 for it (frame included); feel free to DM for more info.

Featuring the famous Bentley 4 1/2 Litre Blower that was driven by Bentleyboy Sir Henry ‘Tim’ Birkin (wearing his renowned dotted scarf) during the 1930 Le Mans 24 hour race.

NEW PAINTING COMMISSION: I just started working on a new painting commission, featuring this stunning 1975 Porsche 911 RSR 3.0 with Henninger Beer livery. It was raced in period by German-Canadian Ludwig Heimrath in North America, in various IMSA & SCCA events.

Today it’s part of the fantastic collection of 911motorsport and still driven in anger on a regular basis. That’s very special, considering the higly original condition of this specific racecar. It’s actually the most original surviving 911 RSR of its kind and has been on show in the Porsche Museum in Stuttgart.

Very proud turning it into my next handmade artwork, as part of my ongoing series of iconic Porsche racecars. Featuring iconic liveries in a retrostyle posterlook with tilted infographics about car and race.

Last saturday I was invited to visit the incredible collection of 911motorsport. The collection is all about the racing bloodline of the Porsche 911, with a clear focus on the rare R, RS & RSR models. The quality of the collection is amazing and it was an honor to see all those iconic cars, up close in person.

I had a very inspiring workshop tour, listened to all the great stories and went home with a commission for 2 new paintings! More about that, will be revealed in a future post, so stay tuned and follow me for more of these fantastic Porsche racecars…
