Hi there! My name is Bas van Doren and I’m a candidate for the upcoming department council elections. I am 21 years old and in my fourth year at TU/e right now. I’m doing the master in Industrial and Applied Mathematics. In the past year I have spent a lot of time doing something pretty cool, namely setting up an association! I am one of the three founders of Noesis, the brand new student chess club at TU/e. I am currently the treasurer of the first board of the association. As we don’t have previous boards to build on, we have to adapt all the time to problems thrown on our path. I learned a lot already in doing this, which I think will be useful in helping with the problems that the department faces.
Apart from that, I like to go to the study association GEWIS. You can find me on the borrel most Thursdays, so always feel free to approach me there and tell me what you would like to see different in the department!

Hello! I am Isabel Rutten, a 20 year old student. I am currently in my third year of the bachelor in Computer Science and first year of the bachelor in Industrial Engineering. I am an active GEWIS member (you can find me in the first Supremum of this year) but I am also a member of many other diverse student associations. Due to this, I learn about opinions on situations from a varied group of people which helps me form an argued view. Moreover, you might have used one of my summaries to study for a course or chatted on an unofficial Discord server that I co-moderate which provides students a means of communication for specific courses, studies or general problems. If I were to be elected as a member of the Department Council, my goal would be to ensure that the quality of education remains high and that every students' problems are heard. Thus, you can always hit me up for a chat to discuss what should be changed (or what should not) in the department of Mathematics and Computer Science!

Hi everyone! I am Celie Baroja Sierra, and I am a second-year Bachelor student in Computer Science. However, it is my third year at the TU/e as I previously studied the Built Environment program for one year. Last year, I worked as both Treasurer and Internal Affairs Officer of COSMOS, the International Association. I helped our association and the international community navigate through the unprecedented challenges presented by COVID and worked with TU/e staff to tackle many issues affecting international students. If I get the honor to represent you in the Department Council, I will use my experience and skills to represent your voice in the areas that are most important to you. The department is in prime position to take advantage of new trends in technology and mathematics and become a global leader. By voting for me you'll be voting for someone that understands how important your education and wellbeing is to that mission.

Hey everyone! I am Marc Dragt, and I am a second-year bachelor student of Data Science. For the second year now I am an active member of D.S.A. Pattern, and this year I am also running for student council. In my free time, I like to ride my motorcycle, play video games, and hang out with my friends. I think it is important students and different majors get represented in the university because decisions that are made affect us all. Because I wanted to play a more active role in the university, and our major wanted someone to represent them, I was Immediately sold and decided to sign up. I think being part of the student council will be a valuable experience and I am excited to work on improving our university for everyone.

Hi everyone! My name is Anne and I’m 21 years old. Most of you probably know me as the current Educational Officer of GEWIS. I’m now in my fourth year student of the bachelor Applied Mathematics, but this year my study is a bit on a back burner. As Educational Officer I think it is very important to focus on the educational topics that are discussed in the Department Council and with my current role I’m very much able to represent the students of both Mathematics and Computer Science. Furthermore, I think well-being of both the staff and the students is an hot topic, where I would like to invest even more time in. Since the beginning of the year I am already focusing on student well-being on a FSE level and by organizing discussion hours for students.

Hi everyone,
My name is Ali, and I am in the second year of the Data Science in Engineering master's program. While education is one of the highest priorities for me, I also find it valuable to play an active role in the university as a community. I have been part of the Department Council from the previous year, which I would like to do another year. As a chair of the communication committee, we did a lot this year to improve our communication within our department (students and staff) by creating new platforms for you to be as close as possible with us. So, you can see us on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn now! Besides, I am also an active member of the education and well-being committees of the department council. I worked closely with the students to improve education, be their voice for the issues, and represent their views on different matters like covid-19 consequences. By being a member of the department council, I can represent all the department students, including international students. By continuing with the Department Council for another year, I can contribute to the council's diversity and continue improving communication and education within our department.
