A little over a year healed on this surreal vase tattoo I created for Cris. It was a relatively small piece, so I’m really happy to see how well the details have held up over time.

For Remco’s very first tattoo, we created this hourglass inspired by The Lord of the Rings, filled with symbols of time, mortality and the passing of all things. A sword, a tree and the fallen world beneath it, all enclosed within the hourglass. Tolkien’s words as the inspiration behind the piece:

This thing all things devours:
Birds, beasts, trees, flowers;
Gnaws iron, bites steel;
Grinds hard stones to meal;
Slays king, ruins town,
And beats high mountain down.

Anouk had a wedding coming up and wanted to have her old tattoo covered (slide to see →) before the big day, so we created this little composition of flowers and a vase. And with those shoes to finish the look, I’m pretty sure she made a killer entrance at her friend’s wedding. Thanks again for trusting me with this one, Anouk!

A custom piece for Pol inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man, combined with flowing botanical forms and surreal imagery. Thanks again, man. It was nice meeting you, and thanks for the review, really appreciate it! Love how this one turned out.

This design was inspired by Right in Two by Tool. The core themes were free will, human division, the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey, and subtle references to the work of Alex Grey.

The central element is the two monkeys. At first glance they appear to oppose one another, but they eventually merge into a single form. That’s my interpretation of Right in Two. To me, the line “monkey killing monkey” isn’t just about conflict, but also about the illusion of separation. The two monkeys aren’t enemies; they’re different expressions of the same consciousness.

Standing between them is the monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey. It symbolises human potential: the same consciousness that allows us to create also gives us the power to destroy.

This is the third tattoo I’ve had the pleasure of creating for Guyon, and he always comes up with fun ideas. As a Godzilla fan, this iconic monster was the perfect addition to his collection.
