Europe is short 400,000+ drivers. Spot capacity has gone from a nice-to-have to a critical lifeline, and the pressure to keep things moving doesn't really pause for vetting.

That's the gap most of the fraud walks straight through. WhatsApp groups, open forums, phone deals with carriers nobody's worked with before - when you need a truck in two hours, the careful option often loses.

It shouldn't be a trade-off though. The tech to verify continuously, not just once at onboarding, already exists. The question is whether the platforms people actually use are built on it.

Cargo theft used to mean a parking lot and a bolt cutter. More and more, it means a fake email domain and a set of documents that look real enough.

The shift toward digital fraud and identity attacks has been building for a while, and AI is making it cheaper and faster on the criminal side - fake documents at scale, spoofed comms, automated targeting of valuable loads.
