My go-to setup for directional and soft ambient lighting combines a soft fabric bounce frame with a precision reflector in the center. It’s the same concept as a SnapBridge, just bigger!

: “What happens when every light has to be part of the set?”

For the Red Bull Ultimate Football Challenge in Bilbao, we needed to create a soft, even lighting setup that allowed the cameras to shoot through 360° while still maintaining shape, contrast and depth.

The biggest challenge wasn’t simply lighting the athletes.

Because almost every angle was in play, the fixtures themselves would often be visible on camera. The lighting therefore had to work as part of the production design, rather than something we could hide outside the frame.

Our main top light was built from two grids of 34 LiteStar LUXED-6s, combined with larger LUXED-9s in Chimera softboxes.

Around the perimeter, we used LUXED-12s as edge lights, positioned to separate the athletes from the background. These were set to 4500K with the Chimeras removed, giving us a subtle shift in both colour and texture.

And then there was the scale of the space… it was HUGE!

Really pleased with how clean the final setup felt, despite the size and complexity of the production.

.lighting New Storm CS32 🤩

The Storm CS32 features the BLAIR-CG with extended red. It has an output to rival a 4K HMI and produces excellent saturated colors across the visible light spectrum, while maintaining a small size and weight for single person operation and is of course IP65!

The Storm C32 uses a unique mix of Blue, Lime, Amber, Indigo, Red, Cyan and Green emitters.

Color temperature ranges from 1800K - 20.000K.

The Aputure CF16 Fresnel/Barndoor kit who is used on the Storm XT52 can be used as well on the Storm CS32!
