‘Like Fornasetti, Girard and Frykholm, Bruno Munari and Enzo Mari also worked on the creation of image and graphic sense: their lesson seems to come to life in the proposal of those contemporary designers who include the graphic visual component as a fundamental part of the project.
At the last Salone del Mobile we appreciated the work of Mark van Wageningen, a brilliant Dutch type designer best known for his brand Novo Typo, publisher of typefaces and above all the author of a new approach to typography and printing. Already in his first volume, van Wageningen made the quality and innovative grain of his proposal shine. How much his graphic design is actually design and that’s it is reaffirmed by the identifying character that ends up imprinted on the products that accompany it: soaps, tea towels, shopping bags, wallpapers and home textile products. Van Wageningen starts from the study of lettering to define a visual response that is a profound interpretation of our time and our surroundings, with an important attention to the ecological value andresearch of supports and materials.’
