๐ค Can records management ever be fully automated?
๐ That question gets harder once a retention schedule has to work across multiple systems, jurisdictions, data types, and business processes.
In our recent webinar with ARMA International, our CEO & Co-founder, Wanne Pemmelaar, explored where automation creates real value โ and where relying on it too heavily introduces new risks.
๐ One example is legal interpretation. AI can appear to understand a retention requirement while actually truncating part of the underlying clause and predicting the rest. In records management, the difference between โ3 yearsโ and โ10 yearsโ isnโt just an accuracy issue โ it can mean records are deleted too early or kept longer than necessary. โ๏ธ
So the real question isnโt whether records management can be automated. Itโs which parts should be, where human oversight still matters, and how governance holds up across the systems where information actually lives.
If you missed the session, the full webinar covers the broader discussion โ automation, governance, system limitations, exceptions, and what it takes to operationalize a retention schedule across the enterprise. ๐
