DOWN TO EARTH: Designing for the Endgame / DOWN TO EARTH: Ontwerpen voor het eindspel

This book about designing in times of climate crisis – the endgame is a given, we know, we are smack dab in the middle of it – is the concluding project of DOWN TO EARTH, the antitypical 9th edition of the International Architecture Biennale Rotterdam (). In a world in lockdown, chief curator George Brugmans turned the traditional biennale model inside out and focused on completely unfolding the IABR–Ateliers’ research on how to use the energy transition and water issue as leverage to find real world solutions to help realize the world community’s sustainable development goals.

The visually rich book (available in Dutch and English) is not only a retrospective catalogue. Even more, it’s a call to designers: it's too late, so now it really comes down to action!

The exhibition BrAInpower shows where AI can be used successfully, how we can reap the benefits, but also highlights the dark sides of it.
and I worked on the graphic design and campaign for this exhibition with the use of AI tools. It shows an unexpected outcome decided by our computers. Amazing spatial design by ✨ Now on view at till March 2023.

The exhibition BrAInpower questions how AI already affects our lives. 👁‍🗨 From deepfakes, streaming services and dating apps to facial recognition, self-driving cars and medical applications.. but also less mundane applications are discussed: AI in medicine, in creative processes and in the development of 'smart' robots. 🤖
Dive into the first history of computing power and dreams of artificial intelligence in this temporary exhibition (9 September 2022 - 5 March 2023)
