What happens when AI infrastructure moves outside the datacentre, closer to where data is generated?

⚒️ AI workloads are increasingly being deployed across mining, energy, manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, defence and retail environments where infrastructure must operate reliably outside traditional IT conditions.

These deployments cannot depend on controlled datacentre conditions. They require local processing, operational continuity and reliable performance directly at the point of operation.

At the same time, they introduce challenges such as dust, vibration, temperature variation, limited maintenance access and strict space constraints where traditional air cooling infrastructure becomes difficult to maintain consistently.

On May 15, our CEO Rutger de Haij will join the Dutch Saudi Arabia AI Infrastructure & Data Centers Dialogue in Amsterdam.

The conversation will focus on what scaling AI infrastructure across markets looks like in practice. Infrastructure readiness, operational complexity, deployment strategy and long term efficiency are now closely connected.

As AI workloads continue to increase, infrastructure decisions made today will shape performance, energy use and deployment flexibility for years ahead.

The EU Code of Conduct for Datacentres shaped European thinking on efficiency long before the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) introduced mandatory reporting requirements.

What makes it still relevant today is its broader engineering perspective.

The Code focuses on how cooling, power, monitoring, water consumption, heat reuse and thermal management perform together at system level.

As rack densities continue to increase, many of the operational goals promoted by the EU CoC are directly addressed through immersion cooling architecture.

In our latest Knowledge Hub article, we explore why the EU CoC still matters, how it connects to emerging European regulation and why cooling architecture plays a bigger role in long term infrastructure efficiency than often assumed.

If you’ve ever tried to compare air and liquid cooling, you know how quickly it gets unclear.

Different assumptions, different metrics and very little that lines up in a practical way.

This week at 🔗OCP EMEA Summit 2026🔗 in Barcelona, that topic comes into focus.

Our CTO, Andy Young, PhD, will contribute to two sessions:

“Total cost of ownership (TCO) model for liquid cooled datacentres” – contributing to a new open TCO tool release, bringing together energy, water, space and efficiency into one view, with insights into how design choices impact cost over time.

➖ Session 2, April 30, 14:00

“Immersion Solutions: Integrating Cooling, Power, Hardware, and Economics” – joining a panel focused on how immersion systems come together in practice, from coordination across cooling, power and hardware to the challenges that still slow down adoption.
Contributing to the discussion on system level alignment, real deployment experience and where further alignment across the industry is still needed.

We’ll be at the OCP EMEA Summit in Barcelona, but not just for what’s on the agenda.

where people can challenge each other openly and move beyond standard thinking.

As part of the OCP Immersion Community Outreach, the Liquid Cool Down Beach Party brings together people actively shaping this space.

We kicked off our first Asperitas Day in Eindhoven ☀️

Started this initiative to get the team out of the office and into a different setting. A way to reset, spend time together and gain new knowledge along the way.

This time, the agenda was a surprise.

The day began at Philips Stadium, where we sat down to go through company updates, but also how we approach product development, how systems are tested and validated and take a deeper look at how research feeds directly into what gets built.

Later, VDL Groep together with VDL Assembly opened their doors and gave us a tour of their showroom, followed by a look into how production is organized. From process automation to the role of robotics in building and scaling mechatronic systems.

Wrapped up the day with games, drinks, dinner and some time outside in the sun.

Strengthening the team and enjoying the process together is part of how we work. Feeling recharged and ready for what’s next.
