When a preamplifier or other source with, say, 100 Ohm output impedance is connected to a Power Amplifier then the interlink will show some kind of effect as shown in the picture. In the case of the purple plot the cable is not connected. The yellow plot is the same cable connected to an input impedance of 1mega Ohm. Both effects are caused by reflections in the interlink. Only when the amplifier also has a 100 Ohm impedance will the plot change to a straight line. Therefore, the condition is that the cable has an impedance of 100 Ohm as well. Therefore, our Hermes streamer has an output impedance of 100 Ohms on the I2S output as well as the I2S input of our dacs. Connected with a UTP cable (which has a standard impedance of 100 Ohms) this dip will change into a straight line. An absolute prerequisite to achieve a proper transfer of I2S data without loss and without jitter.

It is always exciting to push the boundaries. Here is a famous Euro 20K dac tested by Stereophile. The stimulus (-90.31dB 24 bit ) shows a nice sine wave which of course shows some noise. It is always nice to be able to improve this. In the Pasithea we show approximately the same picture only at a signal which is 20dB lower namely -110 dB. Besides the auditory aspects, these specs will certainly contribute.
