BREAKING NEWS

Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party and ex-Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has declared that he will not be anybody’s running mate in the 2027 general election.

Speaking on Sunday night during an X Spaces conversation, Obi made it clear that his political ambition is focused on leadership at the highest level, not a vice-presidential role.

> “I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be Vice President,” he said.

Obi stressed that he possesses the experience and capacity needed to lead Nigeria, citing his background in business and public service.

> “I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and have more experience than any candidate, including the sitting President,” he added.

His comments have reignited political conversations nationwide as attention gradually shifts toward the 2027 elections.

The Biblical Reason for Christmas

Christmas is not just a season of celebration, lights, and gifts—it is the fulfillment of God’s greatest promise to humanity.
At its heart, Christmas celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, the Savior sent by God to redeem the world.

“For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder…” — Isaiah 9:6
God’s Promise Fulfilled

From the Old Testament, God promised a Messiah who would bring salvation. Christmas marks the moment that promise became flesh.

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son…” — Isaiah 7:14
God’s Love Revealed
Christmas is the clearest expression of God’s love for humanity.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son…” — John 3:16

Jesus came not as a king in a palace, but as a humble child in a manger—showing that God’s love reaches everyone.
Salvation for All

The birth of Christ brought hope, forgiveness, and restoration to the world.

“He will save his people from their sins.” — Matthew 1:21
Light in a Dark World
Jesus came as the light that overcomes darkness.

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.” — Isaiah 9:2

May this Christmas remind you that God’s love is real, His promises are true, and His light still shines.
May the peace of Christ fill your heart, your home, and your path forward.

May hope be renewed, joy be restored, and faith be strengthened.

✨ Merry Christmas and may the love of Christ be with you today and always.

📰 JUST IN: Magu Explains Why Jonathan Was Not Questioned Over $2.1bn Arms Deal

Former acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has explained why ex-President Goodluck Jonathan was not invited for questioning over the controversial $2.1 billion arms procurement deal.

According to Magu, EFCC investigative records, including official memos and documents reviewed during the probe, showed that the funds involved were not officially approved for political campaign purposes. Based on the available documentation, investigators could not establish a direct authorization linking the former president to the alleged misuse of the funds for electoral activities.

Magu noted that the absence of formal approval or documentary evidence tying the money directly to campaign financing limited the legal grounds for summoning Jonathan for questioning in the matter.

The $2.1bn arms deal controversy, widely known as Dasukigate, involved allegations that funds meant for arms procurement were diverted through the Office of the National Security Adviser during the Jonathan administration, leading to multiple investigations, prosecutions, and recoveries.

📢 BREAKING NEWS | Abuja 🇳🇬

The Nigerian military has reportedly detained four police officers in Abuja for allegedly violating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive ordering the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP es**rt and protection duties.

🔍 What Happened

According to verified reports, the officers were arrested after they were found providing unauthorised VIP es**rt services, an action said to be in direct contravention of the President’s security reform directive aimed at redeploying police officers to frontline duties.
The incident reportedly occurred on December 17, 2025, in Abuja.

👮‍♂️ Names of the detained officers

• ASP Musa Waziri – 45 Police Mobile Force (PMF), Abuja

• Insp. Jeremiah Achimogu – 45 PMF, Abuja

• Insp. Awipi Terry – 21 PMF, Abuja

• Insp. Hassan Baba – 50 PMF, Abuja

⚠️ Additional Details

Reports indicate that the officers were allegedly disguised in uniforms resembling those of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), allegedly to evade enforcement of the directive.

The officers are said to be currently in military custody, while internal disciplinary processes are expected to follow in line with police regulations.

📢 JUST IN: FG Flags ₦288 BILLION Financial Irregularities in INEC Accounts Under Ex-Chairman Mahmood Yakubu 🇳🇬

The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Office of the Auditor-General of the Federation, has flagged a total of ₦288,188,772,947.06 in financial irregularities linked to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) during the 2018–2019 financial years, when Prof. Mahmood Yakubu was Chairman.

🔎 Key findings from the Auditor-General’s report include:

• Procurement breaches, including payments for election materials allegedly made without full compliance with procurement laws.

• Payments to contractors without adequate documentation or proof of delivery.

• Failure to deduct and remit statutory stamp duties on several ,contracts, running into billions of naira.

• Un-retired cash advances issued to officials, contrary to financial regulations.

• Some contracts were said to have exceeded approved thresholds without proper clearance from relevant authorities.

📑 INEC’s response:
INEC disputed several of the findings, stating that presidential approvals and the urgent nature of election preparations justified some actions. However, the Auditor-General described many of the explanations as unsatisfactory.

⚖️ Important clarification:
This is an audit finding, not a criminal conviction.
The report does not declare Prof. Mahmood Yakubu guilty, but it raises serious concerns and recommends that the funds be fully accounted for before the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committees. It also recommends recovery of funds and possible sanctions where violations are confirmed.

📌 Why this matters:
INEC manages Nigeria’s electoral process, and financial transparency is critical to public trust in democracy.

U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard M. Mills Jr., Recalled by President Donald Trump

President Donald J. Trump has recalled the United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Richard M. Mills Jr., as part of a wide-ranging diplomatic reshuffle affecting nearly 30 U.S. ambassadors and senior envoys worldwide.

Ambassador Mills, a career diplomat, assumed office in July 2024 after confirmation by the U.S. Senate. His recall does not imply wrongdoing and follows the long-standing presidential prerogative to replace ambassadors, especially during a change in administration.

The development comes amid ongoing diplomatic engagement between the United States and Nigeria on security, trade, and governance issues.
