HISTORY:
Relatively speaking, Eruwa Ojoko is an ancient town. Its founders, according to tradition' came from Old Oyo. The need for security in those days made them look for a place that had natural fortification. An area in an around the present site, which was a chain of hills, satisfied their want. Thus, tradition records that the earliest migrants settled in succession on a number of granite hills, such as Adoro, Okole, & Akolu, before they descended to the valley where the core of the town has remained ever since. The leading figures of these earlist settlers were OBASEKU, an Oyo prince, and his wife, Oyinlola. Their two children, Akalako & Olaribikusi and their descendants constituted the only two Ruling Houses from which candidates to the throne of Oba Eleruwa have been chosen in rotation ever since.
