2026/2027 NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) POST-UTME REGISTRATION EXERCISE

1.0 INVITATION
The Management of the Maritime Academy of Nigeria hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for admission into the following two-year (four-semester) full-time National Diploma (ND) programmes for the 2026/2027 academic session:

National Diploma in Nautical Science
National Diploma in Marine Engineering
National Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
National Diploma in Maritime Transport and Business Management

Online registration and application open on Wednesday, 1st July 2026, and close on Friday, 31st July 2026.

2.0 MODE OF CORRESPONDENCE
Candidates seeking admission must maintain an active email address and mobile phone number for official correspondence throughout the screening process. All post-UTME registration must be completed via the Maritime Academy of Nigeria application portal, and final admissions processed through the Joint Admissions and Jamb Examination Board’s (JAMB) Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). Candidates must not appear physically at the Academy unless shortlisted and explicitly invited for medical and physical screening exercises via a website publication, email, or SMS.

3.0 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
3.1 GENERAL ELIGIBILITY
Candidates who selected the Maritime Academy of Nigeria as their First (1st) Choice Institution in the 2026 UTME are generally eligible to apply/register.

3.2 UTME MINIMUM ADMISSIBLE SCORE
Candidates who scored not less than the following minimum admissible score are eligible for the post-UTME registration:

Nautical Science: 175
Marine Engineering: 175
Electrical/Electronic Engineering: 175
Maritime Transport and Business Studies: 160
3.3 O-LEVEL SUBJECTS AND UTME SUBJECT COMBINATIONS
1) ND Nautical Science

O-Level Subjects: Applicants must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least five (5) credit passes obtained within the last five (5) years in not more than two sittings. Compulsory subjects include: Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Geography, and any other related science subject.
UTME Subject Combination: English Language, Mathematics, Geography, and Physics.

2) ND Marine Engineering and Electrical/Electronic Engineering

O-Level Subjects: Applicants must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least five (5) credit passes obtained within the last five (5) years in not more than two sittings. Compulsory subjects include: Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and any other related science subject.
UTME Subject Combination:
English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, and Physics.
3) ND Maritime Transport and Business Studies

O-Level Subjects: Applicants must possess a Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE) or its equivalent with at least five (5) credit passes obtained within the last five (5) years in not more than two sittings. Compulsory subjects include: Mathematics, English Language, Economics, Geography or Commerce, and any one (1) of the following: Government, Financial Accounting/Bookkeeping, Marketing, Business Management, or Computer Science/Data Processing/ICT.
UTME Subject Combination: English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any one (1) of Geography, Commerce, Government, or Principles of Accounts.

4.0 PHYSICAL AND MEDICAL FITNESS
4.1 PHYSICAL FITNESS CRITERIA
In alignment with maritime industry demands and the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) 1978, as amended, all seafarers must be physically and mentally fit. Applicants must be capable of handling the rigours of regimented cadetship training. Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo physical and medical screening upon official invitation.

4.2 MEDICAL EXAMINATION FORM (FORM M)
Candidates must download and print the Medical Examination Form (Form M) from the application portal. This form must be completed and endorsed by a registered medical practitioner at a recognized government hospital before being re-uploaded to the portal.

4.3 Academy Medical Screening Tests
Shortlisted candidates will undergo verification screening at the Academy, which includes the following medical diagnostic tests:

Packed Cell Volume (PCV)
Venereal Disease Research Laboratory (VDRL)
Hepatitis B Virus (HBV)
Human Immunodeficiency Virus Types 1 & 2 (HIV 1 & 2)
Fasting Blood Sugar (FBS)
Pregnancy Test (PT) – female candidates only
Urinalysis
Genotype
Blood Group
Controlled Substance / Alcohol and Drug Test
Data Privacy Compliance: All medical information uploaded or gathered during screening is treated with strict confidentiality and processed securely under institutional data protection guidelines solely for admission eligibility evaluation.

5.0 MARITAL STATUS
Applicants must be single and are required to remain single throughout the duration of the National Diploma programme.

6.0 AGE LIMITS
The following age limits applies for the ND admission:

Nautical Science, Marine Engineering, and Electrical/Electronic Engineering: Candidates must be between the ages of 16 and 21 years as of 30th September 2026.
Maritime Transport and Business Studies: Candidates must be between the ages of 16 and 25 years as of 30th September 2026.

UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT BEGINS SALE OF POST-UTME FORM

The University of Port Harcourt hereby invites candidates who chose the University as First Choice in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and obtained a minimum score of 160, to apply for Post-UTME Screening Exercise for admission into the University.

ONLINE REGISTRATION DATE

IMPORTANT DATES AND REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

JAMB to reschedule UTME candidates affected by technical disruptions

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced plans to reschedule candidates affected by disruptions during the ongoing 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The assurance was given on Friday by JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, Fabian Benjamin, during a monitoring visit by the Senate Committee on Tertiary Education.

Benjamin addressed concerns raised by parents and candidates whose examinations were disrupted at the Good Success Computer-Based Test centre in Utako, Abuja.

He acknowledged the challenges encountered, describing them as part of the realities of conducting a nationwide examination of such scale, but stressed that the board remains committed to ensuring that no candidate is unfairly disadvantaged.

“Naturally, you should have one or two challenges here and there. It is not unusual, and I do not think there is anybody who will conduct the exam using one thousand centres and then expect that you would not have any problems. But the most important thing is that if this problem does occur, are you prepared to handle it? And that is what we have just done there.

“All candidates impacted will be rescheduled to write the examination at a later date and possibly at a different centre,” he said.

He added that JAMB has existing provisions, including a mop-up exercise, to accommodate candidates who miss their examinations due to unforeseen circumstances.

The board reiterated its commitment to ensuring that every registered candidate is allowed to sit for the UTME, assuring that those affected would be captured in the rescheduling process and the final mop-up exercise.

JAMB to release Thursday’s UTME 2026 results today

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has said results of candidates who sat for the first day of the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination will be released before midnight on Friday.

The board disclosed this in a statement signed by its Public Communication Adviser, Fabian Benjamin, on Friday.

According to the statement, candidates who participated in the examination on Thursday, April 16, would be able to access their results once processing is completed later in the day.

“This is to inform all candidates who sat for the 2026 UTME on Thursday, 16th April 2026, that their results will be released today before midnight,” the statement read.

JAMB added that an official announcement would be made and published on its platform as soon as the results are available.

The 2026 UTME commenced nationwide on Thursday, with over 2.2 million candidates expected to sit for the examination across accredited Computer-Based Test centres from April 16 to April 22.

The examination, one of the largest coordinated assessments in the country, is conducted in multiple sessions daily to ease congestion and enhance verification processes across centres nationwide.

Candidates have been advised to monitor the board’s official communication channels for updates on the release of their results.

Civil Service Recruitment: A’Ibom Govt says no penalty for candidates who missed oral interviews

Akwa Ibom State Government has allayed the fears of candidates who passed the CBT exercise but were unable to attend the oral interview on their designated dates in the current civil service recruitment exercise.

There will be no penalty for absentees, rather a spillover date will be given to such candidates to go and express themselves.

This clarification was made by the Chairman of Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Ekereobong Umoh, on Tuesday, when the Documentary Team led by the Senior Special Assistant to Akwa Ibom State Governor on Research and Documentation, Dr. Essien Ndueso, visited to witness the interview process.

Mrs. Umoh commended the Governor for upholding fairness in the recruitment process by giving all candidates a leveled ground.

She stressed that the Governor was instrumental in facilitating a special ‘spillover’ opportunity for candidates who successfully passed the CBT but were unable to attend the oral interview, enabling them to complete the process.

“You can’t punish the candidates because so many reasons could have made them not to meet up the date given to them.

“There was a candidate who had an accident on his way from Calabar, when they told us, I told the person not to worry as there will be another day set aside for those who missed out. “

Mrs. Umoh explained that spreading the exercise in sectors or areas of specialty, ensures the smooth process devoid of complications.

“The interviews commenced with health practitioners, followed by engineering professionals, accountants and then sub-professionals cadres like information officers and public relations professionals.

“Recall the Akwa Ibom State Civil Service Commission Oral interview commenced on Monday, January 26, so Implementing the sectors helped ensure orderliness and efficiency making the process speedily.”

It also enables the ease of gathering specialists to be on the panel for the interviews, she said.

She added that two panels of interviewers were deployed to enhance efficiency and streamline the process.

Each panel is chaired by a designated official, included officers from the Head of Civil Service and Department of Establishment.

Also speaking with the team, some of the candidates expressed satisfaction with the process.

One of them, Mr. Obioata Ekanem, a candidate for the information officer role, commended the government for the transparency and fairness in the exercise.

“I was nervous at first, but the panel was very professional and fair making the environment conducive.”

The civil service interview process is expected to continue in batches until all shortlisted candidates have appeared before the panel, after which successful applicants will be announced.

RECRUITMENT OF 50,000 POLICE CONSTABLES: PSC, NPF to Commence Physical and Credential Screening from 9th March, 2026

In continuation of the ongoing recruitment of Constables into the Nigeria Police Force, all candidates who successfully completed the online recruitment registration exercise are hereby notified that physical and credential screening have been scheduled to hold between 9th March, 2026 and 18th April, 2026, across the federation.

Applicants are requested to login to the recruitment portal: npfapplication.psc.gov.ng, to check their status and print the following documents which they must present at the screening venue on the date and time indicated in their Invitation Slip:
(i). Guarantors form;
(ii). Application Submission Slip;
(iii). Invitation Slip;
(iv). Credentials Screening Form;
(v). Physical Screening Form.

Consequently, items to be presented during the Screening are:

JAMB shuts 2026 UTME registration February 26 as 1.5m candidates enrol

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared that there will be no extension of the registration deadline for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), warning prospective candidates to complete their enrolment before February 26 or risk missing the examination.

In a firm notice issued on Tuesday, the Board announced that the sale of e-PINs, a mandatory requirement for registration, will close at 12:00 midnight on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

Registration at accredited Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres for candidates who have already purchased their e-PINs will end two days later, on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

As of February 17, JAMB disclosed that over 1.5 million candidates have successfully registered nationwide.

Despite this impressive figure, the Board revealed that registration centres across the country are operating at barely 30 per cent of their daily capacity, raising concerns that many eligible candidates are yet to take advantage of the ongoing exercise.

JAMB noted that it has the capacity to register 100,000 candidates daily, a figure that significantly exceeds the current turnout at centres nationwide.

“The Board wishes to clearly state that there will be no extension of the registration deadline,” the statement emphasised.

According to JAMB, its examination timetable is part of a nationally coordinated calendar agreed upon by all examination bodies in Nigeria.

The UTME registration window was carefully structured to ensure a seamless transition to other public examination exercises scheduled to follow.

“Consequently, there is no available window for any extension, even if the Board were inclined to consider one,” it said.

JAMB described the early warning as a proactive measure to ensure that no serious candidate is shut out of the examination process due to procrastination.

With just days to the vending deadline, the Board urged all prospective candidates to obtain their e-PINs immediately and proceed to accredited centres to complete their registration.

“All prospective candidates are urged to act now,” the statement concluded.

The 2026 UTME is expected to attract millions of applicants seeking admission into Nigeria’s tertiary institutions, making adherence to the registration timeline crucial for aspirants nationwide.

Civil Service Recruitment Interview

Akwa Ibom State Government has announced the commencement of oral interviews for candidates who passed Computer-Based Test (CBT) in the ongoing civil service recruitment.

According to a statement issued today by Akwa Ibom State Civil Service Commission, the interviews will begin tomorrow, 26th January, 2026 at Civil Service Commission Headquarters, Idongesit Nkanga Secretariat, Uyo from 8am to 5pm each day.

The Commission says interviews for candidates in the Health Sector will commence first, while interviews for Secondary and Technical Education sectors will run concurrently.

It stresses that only candidates who were invited are expected to participate in the oral interview.

The Commission advises candidates to attend the interview with original copies of their academic and professional credentials for verification.

2026 UTME: JAMB scraps special privileges for albino candidates over malpractices

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has scrapped special concessions and registration procedures previously granted to candidates with albinism for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, citing abuse of the privilege to perpetrate examination malpractice.

The Board also warned faith-based tertiary institutions to clearly declare their religious status at the point of admission, saying it is deceptive to present as secular and later impose religious rules on students.

As reported by Vanguard, these decisions were taken on Saturday at a meeting between JAMB management, led by its Registrar, Prof. Isaq Oloyede, and Commissioners for Education from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, held in Ikeja, Lagos.

Oloyede said the meeting was convened to review and assess previous admission exercises.

He noted that despite safeguards introduced by the Board, some individuals remained determined to circumvent the system.

“We have stopped some concessions we gave albino candidates. This is because some are using artificial intelligence to manipulate the registration process to look like they are albinos because of the consideration we gave them.

“Last year alone, over 7,000 claimed to be albinos. We have stopped special registration procedures for albinos,” he said.

Addressing complaints from candidates admitted into some private institutions over compulsory religious instruction, Oloyede urged faith-based schools to be transparent.

“Faith-based institutions should declare from the onset what they are, so that whoever applies there will know what he is going to meet there. But some don’t do that. They will pretend to be secular, but once students are admitted, trouble will begin over religious instruction and injunctions.

“If you are a faith-based institution, say so. The law allows you to set up faith-based schools,” he said.

On last year’s UTME, where the highest-scoring candidate was later found to be a 300-level university student, the JAMB registrar said investigations showed that some undergraduates sit for the examination to change courses or assist others to secure admission.

“Students who are already in school but want to change courses and are applying again must declare and disclose their status.

“We have found that some candidates already in school are writing the examination for other candidates. Last year, the candidate who scored the highest was found to be a 300-level student in the university.

“Henceforth, any candidate found engaging in such an act, and who fails to disclose that he is already in school but wants to change course, will be disqualified and will also lose his current admission,” he said.

On admission criteria, Oloyede explained that federal government-owned institutions allocate 45 per cent on merit, 20 per cent on catchment area, 20 per cent to educationally disadvantaged states, while the remaining slots are allocated to other considerations.

“Each owner or state has the right to decide what its admission criteria will be. But for states, we encourage them to allocate at least 10 per cent to merit, regardless of where the candidates come from.

“This is to diversify the student population and admit eggheads from different communities,” he said.

He criticised some states for establishing new universities despite not fully utilising their admission quotas in existing federal institutions.

On underage candidates, Oloyede said 16 years remained the minimum admission age, noting that an attestation process was in place for exceptional cases.

“Last year, about 42,000 claimed to be underage. After evaluation, only 78 met the criteria and were admitted. We are not saying there are no talented candidates, but the figure looks outlandish,” he said.

The issue of how to engage underage candidates during a gap year divided opinions at the meeting, but a majority voted for JAMB to continue its special assessment process.

The meeting also observed that parental pressure on children to complete their education too quickly was a major contributor to the problem.

On efforts to curb examination malpractice, Oloyede said JAMB had stopped the movement of computers between Computer-Based Test centres.

“A computer registered in a particular centre will remain there and is not transferable to another centre. Some people borrow computers to get accredited and later move them around,” he said.

He dismissed claims that candidates were posted to towns they did not choose, saying personal data used for registration were drawn directly from the National Identification Number submitted by candidates.

Providing an update on the 2025 UTME, Oloyede said 974,855 candidates had so far been admitted out of about 1.95 million who sat for the examination.

He added that over N2.4 billion had been disbursed to institutions that consistently complied with JAMB’s rules over the past 10 years, and that the meeting agreed that schools producing the best candidates should be compensated.

On accreditation of CBT centres, Oloyede said the process involved teams comprising university vice-chancellors, rectors and provosts in each state.

He warned state governments against agreements with private promoters who might use centres to facilitate malpractice.
