Tramigo User Stories
Tramigo Restores a Man's Happiness

When Mr. Thompson, a senior civil servant in a Southern State in Nigeria, bought his first car, little did he know that some professional car snatchers were on his trail.

Mr. Thompson, 36, said he bought the car, a Toyota Camry 2008 model, with a loan he collected from his cooperative society to be paid over a period of 3years. Just after the purchased of the car, a good friend of his introduced him to one of our distributors in State. He was able to purchase the Tramigo car tracking device which was installed that same day.

Two weeks after the installation, on his way home, armed robbers snatched the car from him at gun point. Soon after they left him, Mr. Thompson used his phone to disable the engine of the car. He immediately called the police who swung into action to retrieve the stolen car.

In his word, Mr. Thompson said that he would forever be grateful to his friend who introduced him to Tramigo tracking device, because he would have regretted buying the car. The wife was full of praises for Tramigo and wished every car owner in the country would have tramigo installed in their car so that they can experience peace of mind.

FAQ - Tramigo T23

What is T23?
T23 is the only tracking device that uses easy to understand landmarks to show its location. The location is determined by GPS satellites and you use a regular GSM phone to send and receive text messages from your T23. It is NOT a navigation device, but instead helps you keep your family, friends and assets safe.
What is GPS?
The Global Positioning System, usually called GPS, is the only fully-functional satellite navigation system. A constellation of more than two dozen GPS satellites broadcasts precise timing signals by radio, allowing any GPS receiver to accurately determine its location (longitude, latitude, and altitude) in any weather, day or night, anywhere on Earth.

GPS has become a vital global utility, indispensable for modern navigation on land, sea, and air around the world, as well as an important tool for map-making and land surveying. GPS also provides an extremely precise time reference, required for telecommunications and some scientific research, including the study of earthquakes. GPS receivers can also gauge altitude and speed with a very high degree of accuracy.

What affects GPS accuracy?
Many factors affect how accurate your GPS is. The atmosphere, the ionosphere and the position of your receiver could all affect GPS accuracy. Any buildings, natural structures or heavy foliage that obstructs the GPS' view of the sky may decrease the position accuracy.

Does my T23 need a SIM card?
Yes, think of your T23 as another phone. You insert a SIM card and that phone number is where you send your text messages to.

What if I am outside GSM coverage area?
Your T23 will store up to 20 outgoing messages until it is connected to the GSM network. Incoming messages to your T23 are stored in the GSM network.

What if I go inside a building and lose GPS signal?
Your T23 stores your location when you enter the building and once outside and moving it will start updating your location again. The same applies to tunnels.

Why is my T23 not responding?
• Check if the unit has power and not sleeping. You may see this with its green LED blinking. If this is your first use or the unit has been stored, charge the battery for 3.5 hours.

• If your T23 is installed then verify that GSM is working by calling the unit to see if you hear a ring tone.
If no ring tone:
• There may be no GSM coverage, so move the unit to a suitable location.
• Verify that the PIN code was removed from the SIM.
• Remove the PIN code from the SIM.
• Verify you have the correct phone number.
• Verify that the SIM is properly inserted.
If you hear a ring tone:
• Verify that the pre-paid SIM has credits (you can check that the SIM is ok by inserting it in a mobile phone and sending an SMS).
• Verify the user has a high enough authority to send the command.
• Verify that your phone number is correct in the user list. If you are not sure you can easily re-register yourself as the owner by sending OWNER,password to the unit.
• Remove and re-insert the battery in the unit, or send the BOOT command via SMS to your T23.

How does T23's security system work?
There are 3 user levels in the system:
1. Owner - Can issue configuration commands and all below.
2. Friend - Can use the reporting of the system and Guest commands.
3. Guest - Can issue Find, Help and Status commands.
Unregistered users and users without high enough security will not receive any response from the T23. This prevents unauthorized access of your location.
The owner sets a password that can be used to re-register if your phone is lost.

What if I lose my phone?
You can re-register yourself as an owner by sending OWNER,password to your T23.

What if I move to another country?
You can update the landmarks in your T23 for over 220 countries.
I am unable to get my first location for more than 5 minutes, what could be the problem?
1. There should be no nearby tall buildings or houses.
2. Antenna signal will not pass through metallic or magic type tint.
3. Vehicle should not be moving when trying to get your first fix.
4. Units should not be placed or covered behind metal objects.
5. Acquiring your first location should take only 1 to 5 minutes with a good GPS signal in the area. Should the acquiring of a signal take too long, simply remove the unit's battery and re-insert it again - this re-starts the search process.
How long does it take for the unit to get its position?
With ideal conditions 1 to 5 minutes the first time you use the unit. The unit can re-establish its location in a few seconds.
How many landmarks can the system hold?
T23 can hold over 15,000 landmarks. Users can add hundreds of their own landmarks.

Why is my T23 not charging?
• Check that the battery is installed.
• If first use or after a long period of storage, charge the battery for 3.5 hours. The power light will come on in 5-10 minutes.
• Replace the battery. Like mobile phones a T23 battery will wear out after a few years.

How long does the battery last?
One day with constant usage and weeks with limited activity. This is determined by how much time the unit is sleeping.

How do I take out the battery from the T23?
Press and slide the battery cover. Gently push the notch lock of the battery. Lift the battery out.

How do the sleep modes work?
T23 is designed only to use power when moving. T23 goes to sleep one hour after a trip or 10 minutes after waking up. T23 uses progressive sleep modes to save battery life. These modes are configurable.
• The first mode shuts off the GPS and wakes up once an hour for 6 hours.
• The second mode shuts off the GPS and GSM and wakes up once an hour for 5 days.
• The third mode is like the second but wakes up once a day until the battery is depleted.
T23 wakes up when movement is detected, the ignition is turned on, a button is pressed, or when an SMS is received (sleep mode 1 only). You can turn sleep mode off, or change the wakeup time and length of the sleep modes.

Can I have more than one zone with my T23?
No, only one zone may be active per user. If you add a new zone the existing one shall be replaced. Each user can set their own zone, so the T23 can keep track of 10 zones.

Can the Trip Start report be turned off so that I still receive the Trip End summary?
Yes, just send the command set,tripstart,0 to your T23.
Is Tramigo ISO certified?
Our T23 Manufacturing and Assembly is ISO certified, and copies of the certificates are available upon request.

How do I know the IMEI of my unit?
There are several ways:
1. Send VERSION command to the unit.
2. Take out the battery and check the sticker on the unit.
3. Check the box of your T23 under the barcodes.
To know that your T23 is not a fake, check that the IMEI on the sticker under the battery is the same as the IMEI mentioned in the output after sending VERSION command to the unit.

How accurate is TLD (Tramigo Landmark Data)?
Since every landmark is selected and geo-referenced individually (Tramigo does NOT use inaccurate and generalized third party data), the position accuracy of our landmarks is extremely high (within 20 meters), much higher than the general industry standard.
Why every town or village does not have detailed Point of Interest landmarks?
Because of the memory size limitations of Tramigo T23 (15000 landmarks maximum), the size of every TLD is optimized in a way that Point of Interest landmarks cover all capitals and major cities and as many villages as possible.

How far TLD landmarks are from each other (landmark density)?
Landmark density varies from capitals and major cities (50 - 500 meters) to rural areas where village density defines distance of individual landmarks.

What countries have TLD landmark coverage?
TLD landmarks are available for every country, excluding Japan, South Korea and North Korea (countries without 2G GSM network)
How are TLD landmarks selected?
Landmarks that are used for tracking purposes always include plenty of intelligence in a way how local landmarks are selected. TLD does not include all landmarks, only meaningful landmarks with local significance for tracking usage. This guarantees best possible user friendliness and functionality together with T23 features.

How often does Tramigo update TLD landmarks?
Due to the dynamic and chancing nature of landmarks, Tramigo is committed to continuous updates of its data to ensure the best possible quality of every TLD. Landmarks for every country are updated and verified several times every year.

How can I add my own landmarks into my T23?
You can add your own landmarks into TLD by using the “AddPlace” feature (See T23 Manual).

How can I give feedback about TLD landmarks?
You can mail feedback and suggestions

What is Tramigo Manager?
TM is a PC program that allows you to update the software and landmarks in your T23 unit. You can also load pre-set configurations for the various T23 install options. You can download Tramigo Manager from http://www.tramigo.net/tramigomanager/TramigoManager-T23.zip

What if my T23 is not in GSM coverage and sends SMS message(s), what will happen to these SMS Messages?
T23 can store up to 20 SMS messages and will send at the first opportunity once GSM signal has been retrieved. Incoming SMS to your T23 are stored by the GSM operator.

How can we check if T23 has credits on it if we are using a prepaid SIM?
Use the LB (Low Balance) command if your credit reports are via SMS. T23 will forward to you an SMS message from the mobile number you have specified in the LB command.

If I have added multiple user locations but with the same name and issue delete command, will it delete all those user added locations?
T23 will only store one user location with the same name, so if you add another landmark (using the AddPlace command) with the same name, the first landmark is deleted.

How can we change the text of the T23 reports?
Contact support for assistance in creating a custom Language File (LF) for your application.
If I have periodic find for a time interval and my unit goes to sleep mode, will it still send SMS messages?
No. The unit will stop the timer and will resume when the unit wakes up.

What is M1 Move?
M1 Move is a software for your smart phone that provides menus for using your T23 and can display the locations on your mobile.
See the user manual for system requirements and features. You can download M1 Move from http://www.tramigo.net/m1move.asp

What is M1 Fleet?
M1 Fleet is a software for PC that provides simple fleet management and location displays on a map. See the user manual for system requirements and features. You can download M1 Fleet from http://www.tramigo.net/m1fleet.asp
I’m getting a response from my T23 but I can’t see my location in Web based maps!
Send the command Coord,on>Coord, dec to your T23 and send a Find command again. Successive reports will now be shown on the map.

How many vehicles can I add?
There is no limit set to the number of vehicles you can add, however you should limit the number of incoming SMS as the modem can only handle between 10-20 concurrent SMS before it will bog down. If setting automatic find reports, then space them out to reduce load on the modem. Also use the distance find to reduce the load when Tramigo’s are not moving.
Can I use a phone as a modem?
Phones are not suitable as an SMS modem because they are hard to keep running over long periods of time. Phone chargers are not designed to be plugged in for weeks, so for M1 Fleet use the Siemens modems we recommend. They will run for months without a problem.

How do I see the breadcrumb trail?
1. Turn on periodic find, either time or distance.
2. Turn on trip reporting.
3. Gather trip and location reports.
4. Double click on a Trip report to see the trail on the map.

Why does nothing display in What’s New?
Possible causes: You have no Internet connection, or you replied No when your firewall software asked to allow M1 Fleet to connect to the Internet. You may have an office firewall blocking access.

Why are my Maps not displaying?
Possible causes: No or slow Internet connection. Web based maps site blocked by administrator (firewall) - try searching for a new online map.

T23 Speaks Human

Your Tramigo device references its location to the nearest landmark – a public building, intersection, restaurant or other place you are likely to be familiar with – instead of just sending hard to understand GPS coordinates
Landmarks vs. Street Mapping

TLD landmarks translate hard to read coordinates into places you understand.

Some tracking devices use street mapping and claim that by getting the exact street address, for example “87 Brompton Rd”, you’ll get a more accurate description of your device location. Not only does this require you to connect to a remote server to reference the data (once again, it won’t work without Internet) it ignores the fact that you probably don’t work at the post office and don’t communicate places by their street numbering in everyday life.

Ask yourself: Do you know the street address of the store down the street, city hall or even your friend’s house?

That’s why most people choose the Tramigo Landmark “Harrods Department Store” rather than “87 Brompton Road”

Tramigo Landmarks Work Where Maps Don’t

Landmarks make locations easy to read on small mobile screens

Because Tramigo Landmarks are preloaded and sent direct from your device, you’ll be able to understand the location of your device even when you don’t have Internet access to load maps.

With Tramigo, you’ll still be able to view locations on top of maps but won’t be dependent on them. We created Tramigo Landmarks so you don’t have to zoom in and out of maps on small mobile device screens or lose track of your valued assets just because you lost connection.

Landmarks Make Communicating Locations Easier

If you are using tracking to guide and coordinate your company fleet, TLD landmarks will give you an easy way to relay locations over the phone to personnel in the field. Telling a courier to go to city hall is easy, but can you imagine saying that the next waypoint is at -1.457378’,3.12499

WHY CHOOSE T23?

FEAUTURES
Selecting the correct tracker is difficult as most seem similar on the outside. Almost everyone can locate your device using GPS location and let you set alarms for speeds, geo fencing or motion detection. The reality however is that if you can’t receive messages from your device – or understand the locations your device is sending you, your tracking device is useless in that moment. Our device is unique because of the following features:

• Accessible Anytime, Anywhere – Even When Offline
If tracking system says you need to login or set up an account on a website, it’s very likely that you will only be able to track by connecting to the site. Unless your plan is to stare at a monitor day in and out, this isn’t a good way to track. We give you full mobile software to get all updates – or only selected critical messages – direct to your mobile phone, even when you don’t have access to the Internet.

• Easy to Use in Your language
Most low grade trackers come with no or poor user interface software and machine translated instructions that at worst ask you to memorize long alphanumeric commands just to get a simple location update from your device. Our device can be used on any mobile phone with easy SMS commands in plain English – or other language of your choice – and comes with full smart phone, tablet and PC software to control all functions of your device with just a few taps and clicks.

Understanding vehicle locations with TLD landmarks displayed on top is quicker without the need to zoom in and out of maps.

• No Monthly Fees or Reliance on 3rd Parties
Be careful when signing up for service contracts or buying devices that include “Free service for 1st year”. Not only can the costs mount quickly, you will need to send your sensitive location data over the Internet to a third party and risk having your device becoming inoperative if the company ceases to exist or has problems with their server. Unless solid additional services such as medical rescue or vehicle recovery teams are offered, it’s likely that you will get the same and more from DFGEL, with no monthly fees or license payments – your only cost is your mobile operator's normal price for SMS or GPRS data sent.

• Reliability and Full Aftermarket Support
Trusting your fleet of vehicles to a low grade tracker is like doing a paradrop without a backup chute. The effects of a tracker failing when it’s most neededcan have severe consequences. You will sleep better knowing that by using only high grade components in our devices we’ve achieved the lowest defect rate in the industry. If still not convinced, ask your tracking manufacturer if they can match us:
• Full 24-month warranty for all vehicle trackers, backed up by 24-hour customer support
• Full offline functionality that lets you track even if there is an Internet problem
• SMS backup communication when GPRS coverage isn’t good enough
• Backup battery that allows your device to function even if vehicle power is cut

• Free Fleet Management and Mobile Softwares
There is a big difference between receiving messages to a mobile device or PC and being able to easily manage vehicles from it. With our Tramigo M1 Move mobile software or the M1 Fleet Enterprise Server, you’ll be able to track, manage settings, view history, compile and export statistics from all your vehicles easily instead of just receiving one off location updates.

• Easy to Understand Location Data That Beats Mapping Alone
Exclusive to T23, TLD landmarks translate cryptic GPS coordinates into locations you can easily understand and communicate to others compared to a simple dot on a map, TLD Landmarks allow instant understanding of locations without zooming in and out. Because TLD landmarks for your entire region are preloaded and sent by your T23 device over the GSM network, you won’t lose track of your fleet just because you lost connection.

• Full Online and Offline Support for the Most Demanding Tracking Environment
Tramigo M1 Fleet Enterprise server hosts your fleet data and allows simultaneous access from multiple clients or via web browser with the M1 Fleet Web add-on. With the M1 Fleet Enterprise, you can cache maps (or even use your own custom maps) and work offline via backup modem(s) and SMS connection even if there is no Internet connection available.
This enables you to track your fleet even in the most challenging network environment. The T23 unit is able to store up to 1 MB of event history, which is a more than 20 000 event. Once the device is back in data (online) network coverage area, all the GPRS data will be transmitted to the server. The data transmitted is encrypted and compressed for security and minimal data consumption. This can be even less than 3MB /month with a special low-consumption reporting profile.

FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION

For managing fleets, DFGEL recommends T23 tracking device together with the M1 Fleet Enterprise server software. The unique industry advantage comes when combining both GPRS and SMS technologies seamlessly: Monitor your fleet real-time, have history playbacks and advanced statistics via the server connection and simultaneously get the most important reports and alarms directly from the T23 device to your mobile device in an easy and understandable format with the Tramigo landmarks.

T23 MAJOR BENEFITS FOR ORGANIZATION’S FLEETS

T23 M1 Fleet Enterprise server lets you choose which vehicles each client workstation has access to, making it perfect for service providers and large fleet management.

• Track your fleet real time - online and offline, whenever and wherever without any license or usage payments to DFGEL
• Setup your own server and hosting and be fully independent and in control of all your valuable data
• Use offline maps and landmarks or your own integrated custom maps and custom landmarks

OPERATING SYSTEM

,,T23 vehicle tracking device combines the GPS (Global Positioning System), GSM (mobile network) and geographical information (TLD Landmark Data) into one device.
T23 uses GPS satellites to position itself resulting in very accurate positioning, and then it finds the closest TLD landmark to that point from its internal memory and sends the information across to any authorized mobile phone as a text message using the GSM network. T23 is commanded with simple text message commands; sending the word 'Find' or letter 'F' to your T23 will result in you getting the actual location of your T23 tracking device back to your phone as a message. Simple, intelligent and very secure.

There are 3 user levels in the system:
1. Owner - Can issue configuration commands and all below.
2. Friend - Can use the reporting of the system and Guest commands.
3. Guest - Can issue Find Help and Status commands.
Unregistered users and users without enough security will not receive any response from the T23. This prevents unauthorized access of your location. The owner sets a password that can be used to re-register if your phone is lost.
