Your computer isn't slow because of some mystery virus. A lot of the time, it's Windows 11 itself.

The Weather and Widgets panel that sits on your taskbar can eat over 1GB of RAM just running in the background.

On an 8GB machine, that's close to 15% of your total memory gone before you've even opened a browser tab.

And it's not just showing you the weather. It's pulling in ads and running processes you never asked for.

If you never click on it, turn it off.

How to disable it:
Settings ➡️ Personalization ➡️ Taskbar ➡️ turn off Widgets

Give it a shot. Your computer will probably feel a bit snappier for it

HP or Dell? If you're buying a laptop in Nigeria this year, this one's for you.

We get this question almost every week at the shop. Someone walks in wanting a new laptop, and the first thing out of their mouth is "HP or Dell, which one is better?"

Truth is,...

it depends on what you're using it for. Battery life, build quality, repair costs, resale value in the Nigerian market...

they don't perform the same way, and picking wrong can cost you more down the line, especially with the way parts and servicing prices swing.

We broke down the real differences (and which one wins for different types of users) in a full guide.

A customer came to Linkscreek Tech last Tuesday with an HP laptop that would not hold charge.

He said he bought a new battery online for ₦12,000 two months ago. The battery was already dead.

The problem was not the battery alone. The laptop was running hot every day because the cooling fan was blocked with dust. Heat kills batteries fast in Lagos.

We cleaned the fan, replaced the battery, and tested the charging system. Total cost was ₦22,000. The laptop now runs for four hours on a single charge.

Three things you can do to make your battery last longer.

1. Do not use your laptop on a bed or sofa. It blocks the vents.
2. Use the original charger or a verified compatible one.
3. Bring your laptop in for dust cleaning every six months.

If your laptop battery drains in under one hour, it is time to check it.

Call or WhatsApp 0813 222 6341 to check if we have your battery in stock.

First, it becomes hot within ten minutes of use.
Second, the charging light flickers while plugged in.
