Today is World Book and Copyright Day, a moment to reflect on how books shape our thinking and why every idea deserves respect.

At EdSofta, we believe learning grows stronger when people value the words they read and the minds that create them. Books carry knowledge, effort, and originality that should always be honoured.

When we respect books, we protect creativity and encourage a future built on thoughtful ideas and responsible learning.

Today, we celebrate the girls who code fearlessly

Not “when they grow up.” Right now.

At Edsofta, our young coders, are already building games, animating stories, and bringing their ideas to life with lines of code. Small fingers on keyboards. Big brilliance on display.

Tech is not a boys’ club.
It’s a playground for bold imagination. And our girls are playing to win.

Here’s to raising confident coders, fearless thinkers, and problem solvers from an early age.

As we embrace the excitement of a fresh start, it’s easy to overlook the most impactful gift you can give your child—the gift of learning.

In today’s world, digital skills are no longer optional; they are essential tools for navigating a tech-driven future. By investing in your child’s digital education now, you’re setting them up for success in a world where technology is the backbone of innovation and opportunity.

From coding and app development to game design and web creation, the possibilities are endless. Equipping your child with these skills early builds creativity, problem-solving abilities, and confidence—traits they’ll carry for life.

So, we ask again: What digital skill will your child master this year?

At EdSofta, we specialize in teaching kids the fundamentals of software development and digital literacy in a fun, interactive, and age-appropriate way. Whether your child dreams of building the next big app or simply wants to explore the magic of coding, we’re here to guide them every step of the way.

OTHER THINGS YOU CAN DO WHEN YOUR CHILD SEEMS TO BE A GOOD FIT FOR SCIENCE-BASED SKILLS

In the last post, we shared the signs a child shows that they're a good fit for science-based skills: curiosity, problem-solving, and persistence.

And then, we posted that 1 thing parents can do to manage that very curious child that always asks questions is to get them an encyclopedic book.

This is the last post on science-based skills.

Here are 4 other things you as a parent can do to help your child develop this skill.

1. Register them for courses
As a parent, you can register them for programs or courses such as programming, robotics, etc. Now, just before you register, you should ensure 1 thing about the course: that it is a "how-to" course. Meaning that the course is such that the kids would "build stuff" as early as possible.

2. Get them toys
What if your kids are interested in skills that involve building or designing? You can get them scientific toys. Searches on Google, Amazon, Mastermind Toys, and ToysR us will bring back amazing results. Please get them toys in the areas that they're already curious about.

3. Get them games
Also, you can either get them scientific games or give them access to a device that they can play online via a gaming web app. This may involve registration and paying a subscription fee. As with toys, do ensure the games are in a field they're already curious about.

4. Let them watch movies or curate playlists for them on YouTube
For older children, say from 11 years old, you can get science-fiction movies for them. If you feel movies in the areas they are curious about are limited, you can go on YouTube and search for videos there (documentaries, movies, etc.) and combine these videos as a playlist. This way, all of them can be in a place and they can watch it serially.

We hope you found this helpful.

WHAT YOU CAN DO WHEN YOUR CHILD IS VERY CURIOUS OR ASKS A LOT OF TECHNICAL QUESTIONS ON A PARTICULAR SUBJECT MATTER

Straight-to-the-point answer: set up the child to find the answer. For example, by buying them a large encyclopedia.

We recently did a post where we shared 3 signs a child may be a good fit for learning science-based skills.

And one of the signs is, a different level of curiosity where they ask questions based on higher-order effects. That is, for every answer you tell them, they ask another question based on it.

We know, as parents, it can be overwhelming to always have to answer their questions.

One way to handle this in the meantime and create a win-win situation is this:

Get the child a very large book that contains the subject matter, and have them start reading it over time. For example, Science Encyclopedia by National Geographic Kids or Where on Earth? Atlas: The World As You've Never Seen by DK.

After getting them an encyclopedic book, another thing you can do is this: Ask them to do regular presentations to the family and ask them questions.

See what you've done now? You're now the one doing the asking of questions. 🤣 You're training them to be able to find answers to questions (do research).

To make it sweeter, you can even tell them what areas you plan to ask them questions on ahead of time, so they prepare.

And as they grow in this habit of reading (what they already have a liking for), summarizing their findings, and presenting them, trust me, they're already gaining serious mileage for their future.

We hope you found this helpful.
