Recreating the "Rob the Bank" editing style using movie scenes as B-roll. 🎬

What I enjoy most about this editing style is the challenge of interpreting a message and finding the perfect movie scene to support it.

It's never about throwing random clips into the timeline. Every B-roll should make the audience feel what the speaker is saying before they even finish the sentence.

My process usually looks like this:
• Listen to the message several times.
• Break it down into emotions, ideas, or key moments.
• Search for movie scenes that communicate those feelings visually.
• Edit with pacing that keeps the story engaging from start to finish.

To me, great B-roll doesn't just fill empty space—it becomes part of the storytelling.

I'm curious...

🎥 Editors: How do you interpret a script before choosing your B-roll?

💼 Clients: Does cinematic B-roll make a video more engaging for you, or do you prefer something more realistic?

Create RTB Video Style using a movie as B-roll

When creating an RTB (Rob The Bank) video, I don't just edit clips together—I first interpret the core message the brand wants the audience to believe.

From there, every B-roll is chosen with intention. It isn't just filler footage; it visually reinforces what the speaker is saying, adds context, builds trust, and keeps viewers engaged. Every cut, transition, and visual should strengthen the message, not distract from it.

For me, the process is:

Understand the message.
Identify the emotional or logical proof.
Match B-roll that visually supports each point.
Edit with pacing that keeps the story clear and believable.

I'm curious—how do you approach RTB videos?

If you're an editor, what's your workflow when selecting B-roll?
If you're a client, what makes an RTB video feel convincing and trustworthy to you?
