Over the holiday, I ran into a colleague working at a different company. Back then, he was an accountant, but he had trouble analyzing and visualizing data for the executive team. Then he will say, Victor, your boy don come back. This continues for a few months.

On a Sunday afternoon, while we were playing FIFA, My guy asked if I can take him through data analysis as he is planning on moving to the TECH field. I was very happy and I told him once he is expert in analyzing data, he will be able to predict any football matches (Since he loves betting) with accuracy and will also be good in forecasting future events in his accounting field.

Since he is already good in basic excel, I took him through power query, pivot chat, how to enable data analysis in excel, Cleaning data in excel, Visualizing through power BI, fundamentals in python and SQL e.t.c. While taking him through these courses, I never knew he was applying as a Data analyst in another company. I was however elated when he told me he has gotten a new Job. I did not even bother to ask what role it was…Until today.

My guy is doing very well in his new found field. Data analysis is a very interesting field and one of the most sought-after job fields in organizations. We have role for Data scientist, Analyst, Engineer…e.t.c

Changing career path can be one of the most rewarding gift that life offers you. If you find yourself in this situation; the right thing to do is subscribing to courses that will help you grow in your chosen field. Sometimes though, life happens.
