My name is Juliet, and I’m currently studying Data Science at GOMYCODE Ikeja Hackerspace.
Honestly? I joined because I’ve always enjoyed solving problems and understanding how data can help people make smarter decisions. I wanted something practical, hands-on, and future-focused and GOMYCODE felt like the right place to start.
The journey has been exciting, challenging, and rewarding all at once. One of the hardest parts was learning how to think like a programmer and staying consistent when projects became more technical. Some concepts didn’t click immediately, but with regular practice, things slowly started making sense.
One of my favorite things so far has been learning how to analyze data with Python and turn raw information into meaningful insights through visualization and analysis. There’s something satisfying about seeing data come to life.
My instructor has also played a huge role in my growth, patiently breaking down difficult concepts, answering questions, and constantly encouraging us to keep practicing even when it gets tough.
A typical day at the GOMYCODE Hackerspace is interactive and productive. From coding sessions and project work to collaborating with other students and asking questions freely, the environment pushes you to learn by doing.
What I love most is that this journey is not just about learning tech skills, it’s about building confidence, problem-solving, and preparing for real-world opportunities.
To anyone thinking about starting a career in tech but feeling unsure: start anyway. You don’t have to know everything from day one. Keep learning, keep practicing, and trust the process.
