In the Name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful
All praise belongs to Allah, Who alone is everlasting, Who has decreed death upon His creation, and Who has made the scholars the inheritors of the Prophets. May peace and blessings be upon our Master Muhammad, the city of knowledge and the source of secrets and lights, and upon his family and companions.
With hearts submitted to the decree of Allah and content with His judgment, we received the news of the passing of the distinguished and learned scholar, Sheikh Muhammad al-Hassan ibn Ahmadu al-Khadim, may Allah be pleased with him, to the mercy and presence of his Lord. The news was deeply painful, considering the great position the deceased held in knowledge, spiritual training, and service to the Sharia, the Tariqa, and the Fayda.
Sheikh Muhammad al-Hassan was among those remarkable men whose impact was not limited to the knowledge they memorized. Rather, his influence extended to the understanding he passed on, the spiritual training he provided, and the connection he established between the outward teachings of the Sharia and the spirit of spiritual reality. He was truly a great pillar of the Tariqa and a shining full moon of spiritual truth; a guardian of the Sharia, a protector of the Tariqa, and a defender of the Fayda.
We knew him as a deeply rooted scholar who practiced his knowledge, who was strongly protective of the sanctities of religion, faithful to the covenant of the spiritual masters, devoted to the service of the path, and committed to preserving the foundations of the Tijaniyya Fayda and the legacy of its great men. He combined the light of spiritual knowledge with the balance of the Sharia. In his understanding, spiritual reality never overpowered the Sharia, nor did the Tariqa depart from the principles from which it derives its foundation.
