Floor 0: Have you ever heard from OAU students talking about Floor O?
Floor O is simply OAU student's detention room. If a student is found guilty of any crime (exam malpractice for instance), (s)he would be taken to Floor O for trial before panels i.e. OAU management.
No OAU student would ever pray to be on Floor O.
1. Ogbà Fémi (Femi's Compound): This was coined from the name of the university, and it simply means OAU Campus. Many students prefer the formal to the latter.
2. MOZ 101: This truly sounds like a course code, whereas it's not.
It simply means an act of wooing a female fresher. MOZ 101 is mostly done at night at Anglo-moz.
3. Anglo-moz: This was coined from two halls of residence in Angola (a male hostel) and Mozambique (a female hostel) respectively. It's an open space also referred to as a "love den" because that's where MOZ 101 thrives.
4. Dòbálè (Prostrate): this is a tradition that any performing artiste must fulfill when they come on stage before performing.
An artist who fails to dòbálè may not be permitted to perform.
5. Shana/Ìwé ogbà: This is an appraisal of an intelligent person. It might be sarcastically and ironically used in some contests.
6. Scientific Maximum Shishi (SMS): This is a first-hand punishment for an offender or a student who engaged in an illicit act and was caught.
7. Jack/Jacking: is an act of reading. A student who reads might also be addressed as Jackie Chan by his or her peers.
8. Academics Area: means lectures area where lecture theater, faculty, department, and others are located.
It's different from the Hall area (Hostel area), market (OAU market), and quarters (staff residence). But all are still inside Ogbà Fémi.
9. Road 1: This can be interpreted in two ways.
First, it means OAU main gate i.e. the main entrance to campus.
Also, as an OAU student, if you were shown Road 1, it means you had an unripe graduation i.e. you've been rusticated.
10. Off-K: Areas outside campus, it is also referred to as Town.
11. Tan Gboro, Tan Gate: this is slang used by commercial bus drivers/conductors on campus, and it means Town Igboro, Town Gate.
12. Arò: This is an annoying tease mostly done by the Awolowo Hall occupants (Awo boyz).
13. Dem Gimme: when you had a grade below A or B in a course.
14. Kasamadupe: When a student is sad about the grade (s)he made in a course.
15. A mà ñ báyàn foso o: when you hear this, it means a popular dry cleaner is around.
16. Risky burger: It means toasted bread and egg.
17. Sapá: When a student is stranded and is eating what (s)he was not supposed to eat.
18. Scabbash: is an act of praying in tongues.
19. As e dey hot: A popular bons, puff-puff, doughnut among others on the OAU campus.
20. E soak/ E choke: when something doesn't seem to be friendly.
It is important to note that other slang like "Yellow House (Mathematics department), White House (Faculty of Science), OAU choristers (law students), Just dey play, ko porr keh, who dey breath, God no go shame us" and many others are still in vogue in OAU too but these are just the most widely used.
