You may have seen posts claiming that Nigerians’ NIN and BVN information is being sold online for as little as ₦100.

But before sharing the story, there’s an important clarification.

NIMC has denied that its National Identity Database was breached or compromised, describing the claim as false and unfounded.

However, your personal data still needs protection.

Never give your NIN, BVN, OTP, PIN, password or identity documents to unknown individuals or suspicious websites.

If you receive a link claiming to provide or verify someone’s NIN or BVN, stop and verify the source first.

Don’t let a viral post become a cybersecurity incident.
