*Obiora Obeagu's Victory & Thank You Speech*
My good people of Isi-Uzo,
I want to inform you that some hours ago, I was declared and returned as the winner of the 2024 Isi-Uzo Local Government Chairmanship election.
I want to give glory to God who made this possible by His Grace!
I express my immense and deepest gratitude to our leader and amiable Governor, His Excellency, Dr. Peter Mbah for finding me worthy to serve the good people of Isi-Uzo and our government again on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, our great party, the PDP.
I want to say that the good people of Isi-Uzo have spoken loud and clear that they are for the PDP. During our vigorous and scintillating campaigns, Ndi Isi-Uzo made us promises and gave us assurance of their votes, support and solidarity. At the election of Yesterday, Saturday 21st September, 2024, my good people of Isi-Uzo matched their word with action and gave us massive votes. They delivered us a clear and convincing victory that has further pushed back the vestiges of opposition in Isi-Uzo. Thank you Ndi Isi-Uzo! You clearly chose the best to work for you. Congratulations to all our elected Councillors.
The votes of Isi-Uzo people reflect their acknowledgment of the good work we did in Isi-Uzo Local Government during our first tenure. The votes of _Ndi Isi-Uzo_ show their appreciation of the innovative and massive governance and development projects that our Governor, Peter Mbah, is delivering to _Ndi Enugu_ in keeping with his electoral promises. It reflects their support for good works of the PDP led government in Enugu State.
I want to thank our Governor for his determined efforts to ensure a credible, peaceful, free and fair election. I am happy that the election was hitch-free and nobody was injured or killed in Isi-Uzo throughout the period.
I recognize that it is an enormous privilege and honour to be entrusted with the government and governance of Isi-Uzo Local Government. It is a responsibility I am conscious of and would not take for granted. We have clear laid down plans to consolidate on our past achievements and for continued partnership with the Governor Peter Mbah led administration for good governance and development of Isi-Uzo. I have said that my goal is to move Isi-Uzo from a Rural to a Semi-Urban Local Government through multi-faceted infrastructural projects that tackle insecurity, open up the economic corridors of our communities and boost the businesses and livelihoods of our local populace. We are determined to achieve this with the foundations laid and plans already made in partnership with Enugu State government.
I thank my great team; the Obiora Obeagu Campaign Organisation, our Isi-Uzo PDP stakeholders, our women and youths, Isi-Uzo Royal fathers, Presidents-General of Town Union and our teeming supporters in Isi-Uzo for their selfless sacrifices, unwavering commitment and passionate actions, throughout the electoral processes, that culminated in our success today. I appreciate your support. You all worked hard to ensure the victory we have today. As we celebrate our success, I urge you to be humane in your celebrations and magnanimous in victory.
Finally, I extend my hands of fellowship to my fellow contestants and members of the opposition party. The election has been won and lost. We should unite to move Isi-Uzo forward. Politics is about personal interests and contestations but development of Isi-Uzo is in our collective interest and for the overall good of our people. I therefore enjoin you all to join hands with us to build the Isi-Uzo of our dreams.
Our tomorrow is indeed here!
