YESTERDAY, WE LAUNCHED A SOLUTION — RENTHOUSE
At Startup Jigawa, we believe startups should solve real problems, not just build products.
Yesterday, we took another step toward that vision with the official launch of Renthouse 🎉
Founded by Startup Jigawa Digital Innovation Center, Renthouse was built from real frustration, lived experiences, and serious concerns about how housing works across Nigeria and Africa.
Today, many houses, hotels, and properties are rented out without:

❌ Clear documentation
❌ Traceable records
In most cases:
There is no reliable record of who listed a property
No structured data on who occupies it
No link between landlords, tenants, and local authorities
Fake agents.
Multiple inspections.
Endless “come tomorrow.”
Hard-earned money lost to promises that never existed.
This gap doesn’t just affect tenants, it affects security, urban planning, and community safety.
This is not just a housing problem.
It is a security, planning, and governance issue.
From a policy and development perspective, these gaps affect:

• Emergency response and public safety

At some point, I asked myself:

That question stayed with me.
As a developer and startup founder, I knew technology could do better.
So with a small but committed team, we decided to build Renthouse a platform designed to connect tenants directly with landlords through verified listings, and reduce the chaos that has become normal in house renting.
