“Text-2-PAY” is an innovative cashless payment solution invented by e-Smart Solutions Technology Limited. It is designed to offer convenience and flexibility in the act of payment for goods and services/utilities. This invention relates to a novel cashless payment solution to solve some payment problems by bringing in flexibility and convenience in transaction. It is designed to make use of the engaging role paying on the internet, mobile telephone and the virtual world in the act of payment for goods, services/utilities. Originally e-payments in Nigeria are made when users are logged on to the internet on their PCs, Desktop Computers or GPRS enabled mobile phones and through the more general automated teller machines (ATMs). Consequently, the problems associated with connectivity to the internet before payments persists. More recently, some financial institutions (banks) have developed a special phone application compatible with selected GPRS-enabled phones. This application is used by some customers to interact and issue payment requests for GSM recharge cards as well as carry out other banking operations. These applications are however bank specific i.e. they can only be used for transactions involving the issuing bank only. As sellers and organisations seek more effective and convenient ways to bring their services closer to the door steps of their target costumers, one problem that is always encountered is the ease of payment for such services. This problem is accentuated by some peculiar realities such as poor network infrastructure in many cities, associated cost of internet connectivity and access, low level of computer education amongst many Nigerians, relatively high cost of GPRS-enabled phones, among others. With this baseline, TEXT-2-PAY innovation addresses these problems with respect to simplifying payment options for recharge cards. Users of TEXT-2-PAY do not necessarily need to have internet access; access to Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) and GPRS enabled mobile phone.
