I was asked how long I have been using my sim... I told them about 15years, which was the truth,
I was asked if I have received the MTN bonuses being shared to those category of people,
I answered no,
He asked if am on MTN WhatsApp group, I answered no,Then he said that's why I haven't received it,
He said he will add me to the group, that mtn will send me a code now, which will be used to add me on their system, They requested for me to tell them the code,

Truly the code was sent to my line and i called same to them, A minute after the call,
I began to receive debit alert from my bank, #50,000, 30,000, 20,000, That was how they drain all the money in my account, Total of #510,000,

I complained to my bank afterwards, I was told it's from fraudster and they use any means,

The new scam in town

Somebody calls your number, requesting that you forward a text to him. You check your phone and find a text message from an unknown sender. The text contains a code for online registration. He tells you the text was sent to you because he mistakenly input your number during an online sign-up on a website. The mistake was due to the similarity between your number and his, the difference being one digit. If you forward the text to him, you would have you bank account hacked.
Usually, they have an insider at your bank who gives them your bank details, including your phone number that is registered with the bank. They then go online to access your bank account. The site tries to verify authenticity of the request for online access to the bank account, and sends a verification code to your registered phone number. The hacker then calls your number requesting that forward the code to him under the pretext that he mistakenly imput your number instead of his, and that your number is similar to his. If you fall this ploy, he would gain access to your bank account or any online account and performs transactions. Many people have fallen victim for this, and they never knew it was this singular act that compromised their bank online login details.
You are warned never to forward any code to someone you do not know. Tell him to try signing up again.
Never give out any sensitive details to someone who calls you with a number you do not know or conversant with. As it concerns your bank details, always ensure that you go to the bank if a request is made on your bank details.
Besides gaining access to your online account, someone can implicate you by using your number for signup on illegal activity.

Remember, your ignorance is a viable tool in the hand of your adversary.
Share with your friends and loved one. Save them the avoidable heartbreak
