DBI Joins UNDP: Lagos State Stakeholder Engagement on Digital Skills Development and Youth Employability
Lagos, Nigeria: May 12, 2026:
The Digital Bridge Institute (DBI) participated in the Lagos State Employability Support Programme (LSESP) Phase 3 Stakeholder Engagement and Focus Group Discussion, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in collaboration with the Lagos State Government.
The engagement, held at the Lagos Innovation Centre, Ikoyi, brought together key stakeholders from the public and private sectors, including training institutions, MSMEs, employers, and development partners, to explore sustainable pathways for youth employability and workforce development in Lagos State.
LSESP is a strategic initiative aimed at improving youth employability and supporting the growth of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through market-driven skills training, internship and job placement opportunities, entrepreneurship support, access to finance, and market linkages.
The Phase 3 engagement focused specifically on the Digital Skills and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) sectors, with deliberations centered on:
Emerging and in-demand industry skills
Workforce readiness and employability gaps
Entrepreneurship and MSME opportunities
Strategic partnerships for training and job placement
Representing the President/CEO of DBI, Daser David, at the engagement was Akin Ogunlade, Head of DBI Lagos Campus, who attended the event alongside Israel Baiye of the IT Unit. Both representatives actively participated in the focus group discussions on Digital Skills and Employability.
The DBI delegation also delivered a presentation during the session, sharing insights on digital capacity building, industry-aligned training, and technology-driven workforce development initiatives.
During the engagement, DBI reaffirmed its commitment to bridging Nigeria’s digital divide through innovative ICT training programmes, strategic partnerships, and practical skills development initiatives designed to equip young Nigerians with future-ready competencies for the evolving world of work.
As Nigeria’s foremost ICT training institute established by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), DBI continues to play a pivotal role in advancing digital inclusion, innovation, and employability through initiatives such as the Technology Apprenticeship Programme (TAP), CIDEAS, National Diploma Programmes, and other industry-focused digital empowerment schemes.
The stakeholder engagement further underscored the importance of collaboration among government, development partners, educational institutions, and industry stakeholders in building a resilient and digitally skilled workforce capable of driving sustainable economic growth.
DBI remains committed to supporting national and global efforts aimed at empowering young people with relevant digital skills, fostering innovation, and creating sustainable employment opportunities within Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital economy.
