The energy sector has questions that require more than data.

It requires understanding where things are, how they relate to one another and what those relationships mean for decision-making.

Geospatial technology is bigger than the technology itself.

It is about how we understand our world, how we manage our resources and how we make decisions about the places where people live and work.

Dr. Diane Dumashie, FIG President, brought this broader perspective to the first keynote session at .

Her address was a fitting way to begin a conference built around learning, sharing and exploring what is possible.

What if a business could stop reacting to customers and start anticipating them?

At , Amerley Ampofo , Senior Manager, Customer Insights & Analytics at MTN Ghana, shared how the MTN Commercial team began leveraging GIS for geomarketing and customer management.

By bringing customer information and location together, the team could better understand who remained connected, who was no longer connected and where those patterns were happening.

The shift was clear:
From reacting to customer needs to anticipating, predicting and getting ready.

She also left us with a bigger thought:
Perhaps it is time to move from data ownership to data partnership.
Thank you Amerley Ampofo for been a huge part of the Esri User Conference West Africa 2026
