Look closely at these faces.
These are not just young people sitting for another training programme.
These are the faces of the next generation about to make an impact.
Today, we are witnessing another level of transformation at Skill X.
It is a new journey. We are breaking digital barriers, breaking access-to-technology barriers, and taking digital skills into some of the most remote communities in Nigeria.
This time, we are in Amana, Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Very little is documented online about Amana. It is one of those communities that exists far beyond the attention of the digital world. A border community where young people face many of the realities common to remote communities in Nigeria: limited connectivity, limited access to technology, limited employment opportunities, and very few pathways to participate meaningfully in the digital economy.
And that is exactly why this journey matters.
Digital transformation cannot only happen in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Enugu or other major cities.
It must reach Amana.
It must reach Utanga.
It must reach the young person who has never had consistent access to the internet.
It must reach the student who has never had the opportunity to sit in a technology training room.
It must reach communities where the biggest barrier is not a lack of talent, but a lack of access.
Our AI Summer Bootcamp has now penetrated Amana, bringing Artificial Intelligence and digital skills closer to secondary school students from different schools, including Border Community Secondary School, Amana, and Lady Margaret Memorial, Utanga.
The journey has not been easy.
Getting beneficiaries registered alone has presented its own challenges. Connectivity issues, distance, communication gaps and the realities of operating in a remote community make what may look simple from the city a completely different experience on the ground.
But Skill X is here.
And we are doing the work.
This is what Skill X represents.
We are not waiting for the digital revolution to eventually find these communities. We are taking the revolution to them.
Special appreciation goes to the Management of Border Community Secondary School, Amana, for pioneering this partnership with Skill X and opening the door for this opportunity to reach students in the community.
We also deeply appreciate Comrade Ugbambi, the Project Manager, for the tremendous work, commitment and persistence that have gone into making this possible. Reaching communities like Amana requires more than a programme. It requires people who are willing to keep pushing when the process becomes difficult.
Today, another barrier is coming down.
Another young person is getting exposed to AI.
Another student is beginning to see technology differently.
Another community is being connected to possibilities beyond its immediate environment.
This is bigger than a bootcamp.
This is digital inclusion.
This is Skill X.
And the journey has only just begun.
Parents and guardians in Amana and surrounding communities, this opportunity is for your wards too.
If your child is of secondary school age and you want them to gain practical exposure to Artificial Intelligence and digital skills, reach out to the Skill X Project Manager, Comrade Ugbambi, on 07066027599, or contact Skill X directly.
Let us take the next generation from simply consuming technology to understanding, creating and building with it.
Amana is only the beginning. The journey has only just begun.
