GOSCA CELEBRATES THE JEWEL SUMMIT 2026 FEATURING DEVFEST GOMBE

The Gombe State Cybercafe Association - GOSCA is delighted to celebrate the success of The Jewel Summit 2026 featuring DevFest Gombe, an inspiring gathering focused on technology, innovation, digital skills, and entrepreneurship.

We commend the Director-General and CEO of Gombe State Information Technology and Digital Economy Commission, Dr. Al-ameen Barambu for his inspiring keynote address on “Building a Digital Gombe: The State’s Vision for Innovation, Skills, and Inclusive Growth.”

The impressive turnout of young people and women from across Gombe State reflects the growing enthusiasm for digital innovation and the determination of our people to embrace the opportunities of the digital economy.

As an association representing cybercafé operators, GOSCA recognises the vital role our members play in advancing digital inclusion. From providing internet access and essential digital services to supporting online registration, digital literacy, and entrepreneurship, cybercafés remain a critical link between citizens and the digital world.

A New Milestone for GOSCA

We are pleased to announce that the Gombe State Cybercafe Association - GOSCA has been officially admitted as a member of the Gombe Gombe Network of Civil Society -GONET.

This membership marks an important step in strengthening our commitment to accountability, inclusion, community engagement, advocacy, and digital development in Gombe State.

As cybercafé operators and digital service providers, we believe our role goes beyond providing internet and computer services. We are part of the wider community and have a responsibility to contribute positively to its development.

Collaboration | Advocacy | Inclusion | Impact

We look forward to working with GONET and other civil society organisations to promote meaningful community participation and a stronger, more inclusive Gombe.

OFFICIAL NOTICE TO ALL CYBERCAFÉ OPERATORS

SUBJECT: CHANGE IN NECO RESULT CHECKING TOKEN POLICY

This is to officially inform all members of the Association that the National Examinations Council (NECO) has changed its policy regarding the use of Result Checking Tokens.

Under the new policy, a Result Checking Token can now be used to check a result only once (1), as opposed to the previous arrangement where one token could be used for up to five (5) checks.

This new development is highly significant to all Cyber Café Operators, as it may increase the cost of result-checking services for students and will directly affect the way we provide this service to our customers.

All members are therefore advised to:

1. Take note of and familiarize themselves with the new NECO policy.

2. Avoid assuring customers that a single token can be used to check a result multiple times, as the policy has changed.

3. Clearly explain the new policy to students and customers before processing any result-checking service.

4. Take the additional cost into consideration when determining appropriate Cyber Café service charges.

5. Ensure transparency and professionalism at all times, and do not take advantage of this development to mislead, exploit, or overcharge students.

This change in NECO's policy requires all of us to remain well-informed and prepared. We must ensure that both Cyber Café Operators and students fully understand the new arrangement before any payment is made or a Result Checking Token is purchased or used.

We therefore urge all members to treat this notice with utmost importance and ensure that the information is communicated to other Cyber Café Operators within their respective areas.

The inspiring story of Ibraheem Toleeb Adeiza is a powerful reminder that opportunities, mentorship and practical experience can transform ambition into remarkable success.

From his fellowship experience at El-Junaid Cyber Café in Kano to his current role as an Assessment Specialist at Cambridge University Press, UK, his journey demonstrates the incredible impact that the right opportunity and working environment can have on young professionals.

As the Gombe State Cybercafe Operators Association (GOSCA), we are proud to see how a Cyber Café can serve as more than just a place for internet and digital services. Cyber Cafés and digital workspaces can provide environments where young people learn, gain practical experience, develop professional skills and build successful careers.

We also commend the Federal Government of Nigeria, the European Union, and UNDP in Nigeria for the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP), which connects talented Nigerian graduates with meaningful workplace opportunities, skills development, coaching and mentorship.

GOSCA COMMENDS GOMBE SUBEB AND UNICEF FOR THE “CATCH THEM YOUNG” INITIATIVE

The Gombe State Cybercafe Operators Association (GOSCA) warmly commends the Executive Chairman of Gombe State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Hassan Bello, the Gombe State Ministry of Education, Gombe State, and UNICEF for their commitment towards promoting digital literacy and Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills among young learners.

The Catch Them Young Initiative is a highly commendable programme that will help identify and nurture the talents, creativity and technological interests of children from an early age. Equipping young learners with digital skills, computational thinking, creativity and problem-solving abilities is an important investment in the future of Gombe State.

As an association committed to promoting digital access, technology and innovation, GOSCA strongly supports this initiative and recognizes the importance of preparing the younger generation for the digital economy, future employment and entrepreneurship.

We commend the monitoring visit to the designated digital learning centres and encourage the government and its development partners to expand this impactful programme to reach more schools and learners across Gombe State.
