Nonfungible tokens, or NFTs, have taken the cryptocurrency sector by storm in 2021. The growing interest in these digital collectibles resulted in record-breaking trading volumes during the month of August, with individual NFT sales exceeding more than $1 million dollars on a regular basis
NFTs are used in many different industries—like music, art, and sports collectibles
Just as digital currencies have created a new breed of investor, NFTs are bringing a new type of collector to the art market. Boll notes much of the interest in NFTs has been driven by ‘crypto owners and believers in this world rather than by classic art collectors’.
