Companionship and Partnership.
For long I kept my pen of long texts of thought and choose the short missiles of words. But an event occurred yesterday that prompt me to to do this, today been Eke market day ( Igbo calendar).
The topic above is a sensitive one and it will be related towards marriage as an institution. Most of us grew up failing to define both before we are venture into marriage. But I will explain both and corelate both in reference to marriage.
Companionship is a state of spending time with someone or having someone spend time with you. It is a good feelings that comes with spending time with someone. It always create feelings of goodness which is always about now, when you need that feelings and how you want it. Now that we have gotten the meaning of companionship, let talk about partnership before we do the final analogy to arrive at the actual school of thought we should digest.
Partnership is when two people listen to each other and work together to achieve a goal. in partnership both parties stay together, work together to achieve a goal, and share the profits and the risk involved in achieving the goals. The have mutual understand that the goal is not just a feeling, they understand that there is risk and they all sacrifices their personal goal for this greater goal. They both have a life, but never allow their lives affect the main goal of the partnership.
Now let us bring both into the context of marriage. Most people want companionship in marriage and most want partnership. The main question is what is marriage and which of the both align with the institution of marriage.
Marriage is the coming of two people who have their lives, but are in agreement to forge a common goal, accept the risk and work towards achieving their goal of coming together. There is no context of being happy or rejoicing before the goal is achieved, it is about working towards the goal and when the goal is achieved, you can then share your gains from achieving your goals.
Without throwing much punchline here. If I must ask any reader going through this text, which of this words align with the marriage institution, Companionship or Partnership
